Very unlikely.: White spots on nails are normally due to everyday sorts of trauma, such as knocking your nail against a hard surface. They disappear over time. In the rare instance that they don't, a superficial fungal infection may be present, and that would require the attention of a dermatologist.

Wrong question: You want to know about rough spots on nails. The white spots are harmless and not a sign of anything. Forget about the white spots. There are many of causes for nail changes. If it is important, see a dermatologist, who will look at your skin & nails while asking you many questions. Meanwhile you can use a moisturizer cream and rub in at least 5 times a day.

I have white spots on my fingernails. What could be the reason why?

I have white spots on my fingernails. What could be the reason why?

Let me explain: They're called "leukonychia" and are very common. Most of the time the white spots simply are a sign of some past injury to the matrix (base) of your nails. By the time the white spot shows up (about six weeks after the injury) you've probably forgotten all about banging or knocking your fingers. Sometimes, the injury can stem from a manicure that put excessive pressure on the base of the nails.

Doctors, what are the little white spots I am seeing under my fingernails?

Uncertain meaning: The white flecks in nails most often represent trauma of some sort It need not be major trauma but a banging of the nails as in strumming a guitar etc Sometimes a low magnesium level can cause this as well. Simply taking a good daily multivitamin may help this if it is an issue

What are whte spots under fingernails? I am 61 years old taking aspirn and nitroderm patches. 5 from 8am to 8pm. Thank you.

Various causes: White spots of the fingernails are common and may be due to protein deficiency, calcium deficiency, zinc deficiency, liver, disease, kidney disease et al. I don't think they're from your medications. They're probably not due to any major health problem in your case, but it is a good idea to take a multivitamin with minerals and include calcium in your diet. Your md can advise you best, however.

I have white spots all over all my fingernails, multiple spots on every one and they continue to mulitply and come back, even when the nail grow out! I?

Be gentle to nails!: This article is great because it discusses different nail issues. What you describe, leukonychia, is thought to be due to injury of the nail bed. Years ago, nutrition was the suspect, from dietary zinc to calcium. http://www. Express. Co.uk/life-style/health/190755/Nails-Facts-everyone-should-have-at-their-fingertips

I have clubbed fingernails and emphysema. My dr. Saw spots on my lungs. Could it be cancer?

Possibly: Clubbing can be related to many pulmonary conditions, including emphysema and cancer. What is obviously concerning is that your doctor saw 'spots' on your lungs (by an xray I would presume). You need to make sure that you are scheduled for further work up soon. And you need to STOP SMOKING! It's the best thing you can do for your body.

Relax: White dots in finger nails signify previous minor injuries to the cuticle. They gradually grow out with the nail over about 6 months. Isotretinoin, usually taken for 20 weeks, causes temporary dryness of skin, moucous membranes, eyes, hair, nails, etc. Headache is worse if you take vitamins with vit a (not food): avoid vit. Pills while on isotretinoin. You may need to reduce the dose or even stop.

No crush treatment: Thank u for your question. It would be nice to see a picture, but these black spots could be increase pigment as result of betnovate or healing tissues. There are many options yet. Stop using betnovate and see dermatologist. There are pills and creams that could help with further pimples. Do not crush them yourselves.
