Hi, i have noticed patch of purple skin around my anus. It has well defined edge and it doesn't itch just looks odd. What could be the cause?

To cut or not to cut: A fleshy tag around the anal opening present for 7 years without changing is nothing serious but can present a problem with "clean up" after a bowel movement. Clean: Anal itching can be a very tough symptom to cure. However, I have found the following procedure an excellent "almost" cure. There is no correct amount of caffeine, so best to totally eliminate it for several weeks and allow area to heal, then reintroduce caffeine slowly to find your threshold. Yeast infection?: The most common cause of such symptoms is candidiasis (yeast infection, thrush). If so, it seems more severe than average. Herpes might be possible if you are sexually active. More info; get check: Any anorectal coitus? Possible irritation or even early herpes infection. Any constipation or hemorrhoid history? That could be a factor. May not be a vein.: This far from the anal opening it is definitely not a hemorrhoid, but could be any number of things that "look" like a bulging vein, like a cyst or fistula. Sounds as if this needs evaluation, since there are bowel conditions like crohn's disease that can present this way.
