What would cause an eyelid to go purple colour all over without any blow to the area -either around it?

Could you have a blleding diathesis such as a hemophilia or a previously undetected von Willebrand's Disease. Probably bruise: Without a photo, I'll be guessing. I suspect a bruise of the upper eyelid may have occurred. Often painless and self limited, usually the result of running the eyelid.
