Insect bites: Could be "bites" from any insect. Typically, bedbugs leave 3 distinct bites in a row - called "breakfast/lunch/dinner bites." You should be concerned if the "bite" marks are progressing/enlarging - suggestive of an infection, allergic reaction, or bite with a "hemolytic" reaction (worse case scenario would be a "flesh-eating" bacterial infection). Need more info: It may have been from bleeding into the skin. This can be caused by low platelets, certain infections, an inflammation of the blood vessels, just to start. You should have her seen immediately if they are progressing, and sooner rather than later if they are stable. ...Read more

No cause for anxiety: One or two petechiae does not mean anything serious. I would ask you to watch for any more of them appearing. If there are many more like 10 or more then you may have a cause for some concern in which case you should go see your primary care doctor and request a CBC and platelet count done.
