No: Unfortunately like a bruise anywhere on the body--your own white blood cells etc... Have to come in and take the old blood away to get rid of the discoloration and there is no way to really speed this up. ...Read more

9day ago got hit in my eye. went to ER day4. swelling went down. still have this purple bruise line under my eye. not changing colors. how much longer?

Not too much longer: I am guessing that your eye is normal and not affected by this hit which apparently was soft tissue and perhaps a little bit of contusion of the bones around the eye. The normal pattern is to use crushed ice in a baggie for 3 days followed by very warm (not hot) soaks frequently for the next few days . This will accelerate absorption of the blood and fluid and speed the healing. ...Read more

The top of my eyelids have been noticeably yellow the last few days kind of like a late bruise but I just noticed it! Is it something to worry about?

Not likely: If that is the only part of your skin that is yellowed, I would wonder if you had a bruise on your scalp/forehead area in the last 2 weeks that has allowed some late discoloration to reach your eyelids. Are you using eye shadow that is a new product for you that may leave a discoloration after removal? If the whites of your eyes of other areas become yellow, see a doctor about liver problems. ...Read more

Sometimes: Depends upon the history. Did he get struck around the eye with a fist, a ball or some blunt object so that he has bruising around the eye? Is there swelling? Was the eye struck and is the vision ok? Or did the purple appear with no outside force which could indicate a blood disorder, or tumor? Have your ophthalmologist see your son and sort this out. ...Read more

I woke up with a light purple spot under my upper right eyelid, what could cause this?

Probably bruise: Without a photo, I'll be guessing. I suspect a bruise of the upper eyelid may have occurred. Often painless and self limited, usually the result of running the eyelid. Other considerations would be a insect bite, vascular lesion, sty, nevus, dermatological condition to name a few. As I mentioned, lesions, benign or malignant, are best examined by a clinician to provide you with a definitive answer ...Read more
