Total testosterone is 1, 146, shbg is 99, albumin is 5.0. Quest calcs free t as 61.7 pg/ml. Online research-based calcs free t as 119.0. Which correct?
Okay..., but...: As a clinician, i interpret the report of testosterone in conjunction with patient's overall manhood, mentally and physically, and don't do it by number alone so being able to understand what exists behind the number. Besides, the normal range of a test may vary among different labs. So, refer patient's value to the accompanying range plus patient functionality. So, which is right? You decide... ...Read more
Why do so many ppl love armour vs synthroid (thyroxine)? I'm on Synthroid (thyroxine) and feel like I'm missing out Bc so many love armour
Don't feel left out!: Armour thyroid is a combination of T3 hormone (the active form) and T4 hormone (the inactive form). Synthroid (thyroxine) is T4 hormone. Your body needs to convert T4 to T3 and some people don't do that very well. Adding some T3 in a low dose as in Armoour thyroid sometimes improves the way you feel. Hope that helps. Tsh 1.190-free T4 1.16-freet3 1.11 put on Armour Thyroid 15mg qd. Numbers don't add up for hypothyroidism. What am i missing? (53y, female, postmen)
Not hypothyroid: Tsh and ft4 completely normal. Addition of armour or other thyroid hormone supplement may make you hyperthyroid. Post-menopausal women are at high risk for osteoporosis. Hyperthyroidism causes bone loss, high blood pressure, rapid heart rate, possible arrhythmias. T3 (liothyronine) or ft3 is of no clinical use in the diagnosis of hypothyroidism. ...Read more
For high LDL (168), thyroid replacement therapy(60 mcg synthyroid), doctors say reduce dairy products . So how should we get calcium? Is slim milk ok?
High LDL cholesterol: 168 is pretty high for LDL ("bad") cholesterol, but it is not the end of the story. Eat 5 servings of fruits & vegetables a day. Eat grains and oatmeal. Metamucil for your bowels also lowers cholesterol by 10%. Exercise& stress reduction helps. And medications like statins, zetia, and Niacin help. I doubt the efficacy of synthroid, (thyroxine) which has potential significant adverse effects. Skim milk ok. ...Read more
Stage4Cancer(started in breast mid-late 50s female)do u think "Biotech nutritions-Pure Graviola 1300mg"gelatin free dietary supplement would help her?
Probably not: Stage 4 breast cancer requires a lot more than just a dietary supplement. Its very important that she follow her oncologists recommendations. If she wants to to try a nutritional adjunct, there are total immersion programs for cancer. Some examples are Dr Lorraine Day's 10 Step Program for Cancer Treatment and Eden Valley Institute of Wellness. These are both great adjunctw. Best wishes! ...Read more

Subclinical Hypothyr: Your TSH is quite high with normal t4, it suggest you have subclinical hypothyroidism, it may be due to hashimoto disease and need to check for antithyroid antibodies and need to ba treated with replacement thyroid hormone till TSH comes down to within normal range consult your doctor or an endocrinologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not the best: All of the major professional societies for thyroid specialists, the endocrine society, the american thyroid association, and the american association of clinical endocrinologists have issued formal statements indicating that levothyroxine is the best choice for most patients. Both armour and thyrolar (thyroxine and liothyronine) provide too much T3 relative to t4, making it very difficult to keep tsh, free T4 & T3 normal. ...Read more
Tsh 0.01, free t4, 1.34, tpo 113 . On 25 synthroid, (thyroxine) 5 cytomel. Doc not happy with tsh. Isn't TSH suppressed when taking t3? Hashimoto's by biopsy.
Depends: Your TSH is suppressed. Consider finding a good integrative medicine doctor or an nd to help with the autoimmune process. They can suggest things to actually bring down the tpo level and help your body heal. For your best long term outcome, more needs to be done than just thyroid meds. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

0.01 I already take bio-identical hormones, Armour Thyroid 90mg, cortisol 20mg for adrenals. what to do?
See Endocrinologist: I don't know why you are taking cortisol. If it is for "adrenal fatigue", that diagnosis is a fraud. Armour thyroid makes most people hyperthyroid, and your labs reflect that. Best you see a real endocrinologist who can help you sort out what you really need, versus what you've been sold. ...Read more
25 years old. Testosterone 420, TSH 4.52, Free T4 1.46, Prolactin 20.3, Cortisol 35.6, Vit D 26. Main symptoms anhedonia, fatigue, odd vision, aches.
Anhedonia: Your hormone levels are almost normal, your Prolactin is slightly elevated but I would repeat it again, also for Cortisol the level fluctuates throughout the day, and it's better measured early in the morning. I'm not sure what you mean by odd vision, is it double, blurry, floaters or not able to see in some part of your visual field. Please talk to your provider. Depression is another possibilit ...Read more
Would standard process adrenal supplements (drenatrophin pmg and adrenal desiccated) affect labs – cmp, tsh, free t3, (liothyronine) free t4?
Adrenal supplements: 46F asks about lab effects of adrenal supplements on CMP,TSH,FT3 and Free T4. This has likely never been studied as there is no regulation of adrenal supplements & makers can put anything in them until a bunch gets sick & reported to FDA. I would avoid these unless you need to waste money. I would also avoid a Dr who prescribes them. But need more information. Consult with me. ...Read more

Once?: If you did this once, it is probably not a problem. But burning those fake fire logs in the house often may increase your risk. There are a lot of other ways to decrease your cancer risk, so this is probably not a big deal. Eat healthy, avoid stress, get plenty of rest. These are your best bets for decreasing your risk of cancer. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
