I hope that what somebody's told you about "natural" being better isn't preventing you from getting scientific rx for your acne. All acne can be controlled and being an 18 year old man is hard enough without misinformation preventing you from getting a clear complexion. All acne's manageable. ...Read more

Okay, so I just changed my soap from Dove to a natural honey and oat soap. I noticed I have some random bumps (possibly irriataed pores?) on my leg.

Folliculitis : Well, the idea of putting honey the soap is interesting but I'm wondering if that would result in the soap having some degree of sugar in it. Does pure alcohol 95 cleans and disinfect better than soap or hand gels ? And is totally safe on the skin (hands specially ) ?

Does pure alcohol 95 cleans and disinfect better than soap or hand gels ? And is totally safe on the skin (hands specially ) ?

Depends: In general a good long scrub with lots of running clean city water is very good and is what surgeons scrub with. Ninety five percent alcohol is very drying to the skin and can irritate. I first suggest the soap and it can be plain soap or detergent. If you must use alcohol use seventy percent. ...Read more

If your doc made diagnosis, s/he should have prescribed appropriate antibiotic as there is no "natural" way to get rid of it. I wash my hands 45x per day. so worried as i use hand wash with trihalomethanes in which can cause cancer? other times pure soap mostly. Large risk?

Stop worrying: Despite the government-inspured hoopla, the best epidemiological studies somehow no measurable risk from these. Like almost everything else, these can cause abnormalities in lab animals -- the colb crypt model also is the one used to claim eating meat causes cancer. The Mae compounds are present in infinitesimal amounts in soap and the benefits of washing are of course enormous. ...Read more
