Punctate Calcification Thyroid
Not likley: Some thyroid lesions are prone to punctate calcification, one being papillary carcinoma of the thyroid. Please consult your doctor to see if a biopsy or fine needle aspirate may be needed to evaluate the lesions. ...Read more
1.3cm thyroid nodule with multiple punctate calcification, ear pain, lump feeling in throat, cancer chance?
I have a large hot noduleon my thyroid with punctate calcifications. I thought hot nodules could not be cancerous. What is the likelihood that it is?
Need to biopsy: There is no definite way to know whether it is a cancer for a benign thyroid nodule without a biopsy. You may proceed with a fine needle aspiration biopsy which is a simple needle insertion which is quick and is only a little pain however many times it will require an open biopsy for definitive diagnosis good luck! ...Read more

Punctate metallic density or calcific density projects over right lateral anterior chest wall. Xray results. What does this mean?
Chest films: It would help to be able to see the x-ray. This is often a foreign body, bullets being very common, or there can be a calcified lymph node. You need to ask your doctor about this since they can get further studies to better define the source of this. Actually if you were wearing clothing or a piece of jewelry, or a prior surgical clip that may be the source. ...Read more
Sir... a pleasant afternoon... base on my xray, there are small punctate calcific densities in my both lung fields... how can I remove or cure this?
Based on: Limited info, these are most likely benign califications related to prior granulomatous infection (for example, histoplasmosis). As an incidental finding, it is most likely asymptomatic and no treatment is needed (there is no treatment). However, there are other potential causes, so talk to your doc about what the results mean in your particular case. ...Read more
What is a questionable punctate calcific density in the kidney, CT report says that. Also what is a 1.2 CM probable cyst in the lower pole of kidney?
Kidney abnormalities: "calcific densities" in the kidneys usually represent calcifications or stones, depending on any other associated findings they may have mentioned. Sometimes kidney tumorsay calcify, but they would have mentioned any finding concerning for this. Cysts are very common, and if they meet certain well defined criteria (bozniak classification), they are usually benign and need no further follow up. ...Read more
US shows Multinodular thyroid (.6 cm, . 4 cm)goiter but predominate solid nodule is 3.2cm has new calcific and increased vascularity what does this mean?
Needs further workup: Any nodule over 1cm should undergo at the very minimum a fine needle aspiration biopsy. A recommendation may also be made to bypass the needle biopsy and proceed to thyroidectomy given the new calcifications which place the nodule in a higher risk category. Discuss these and other options with your primary care physician and/or specialist. ...Read more
Ct scan shows small calcific densities measuring 3.5mm in the right lobe of thyroid gland. Any suggestions on what this could be please? I had breast cancer in 08 but no mestateses and n full remission w br ca. Tysvm! I love you guys.
Punctate nonobstructing calcific fleck found on left kidney pelvis. I must control stone-mkg w/ Urocit-K. Will this fleck get bigger or pass?
Stone passable: If stone is described as punctate it is likely only a millimeter or two in diameter which makes it a good bet to pass if it moves into the kidney tube (ureter). If you are on Urocit K (potassium citrate) I assume that you have been diagnosed with a low citrate level and this medication supplements the level which can prevent certain calcium crystals from forming. Key is to have stone monitored, with good hydration ...Read more
I have trouble swallowing but not all the time. Sometimes I really have a hard time swallowling and other x no problem. I had CT scan show small calcific densities in right lobe of thyroid gland. Could this be the cause even though I don't kno what the ct
Need evaluation: There are many possible causes for your current symptoms. Although the ct showed "small calcified densities in the thyroid", it still might not be the cause for your difficulty swallowing. The next step would be a thyroid u/s to see if these "densities" are in a nodule and to see how many nodules & how big they are. Get the ct result, sit down with your doc and discuss the next step of evaluation. ...Read more
Neck CT "small cortical defect along the anterior aspect of the dens just below the anterior arch of C1 with adjacent bone or calcific density." Platelets - 487. ANA is neg. RA Factor - neg. C-Reactive Prot, Quant - 79.6. Sedimentation Rate-West - 47?
Lab results: Hello ~ there is no history so impossible to comment. The CRP is non-specific and slightly up and ESR is non specific and slightly raised. Luckily the ANA and RA negative. The changes at ant ramus C2 and dens are nonspecific possibly due to osteo-arthritis. (ANA and RA shd not be routine labs!) If mets or myeloma in dd do bone scan. thanks ...Read more

Benign calcification: A punctate benign ovarian calcification, key word, appears benign meaning not harmful. However, this is an ultrasound "diagnosis" and bears continuing follow up with the GYN MD as sometimes the ultrasound 'gets it wrong" and that is why ovarian biopsies are done to obtain a tissue diagnosis. ...Read more

What could this mean? : "There is a punctate 2 to 3 mm calcification to the right of the L1 - L2 disc space overlying midpole on right kidney"
Calcification: Body often can heal a part of its tissue and deposit calcium. I am presuming this was a finding on a CT scan you may have had done. The calcification is tiny in size and is often of no significance. It is on the kidney. The size is really small to be of concern. Suggest discuss with the MD that ordered the test. ...Read more
It's been over a year since my last thyroid biopsy it came back with hurthle cells calcification and hypervascular but benign. Second opinion?
Follow up: You need to have a repeat ultrasound to see if the nodule has changed since the last biopsy. If it's the same or getting smaller, you don't need to have another biopsy. I recommend seeing the doctor who did the original biopsy. That person knows your history and will be able to follow this nodule for you. The choice to seek a second opinion is always yours but I'm not sure it's needed at this time. ...Read more

My uterus measures 99 x 35 x 45 mm. The report says there is a 2 mm punctate calcification poster of uterus. Is this bad?

I have done USGthyroid. Normal thyroid and isthumus show diffusely altered heterogeneous echotexture. Vascularity present. No lesion nor calcification.
Thyroid function?: Hi. What prompted the thyroid ultrasound? Sounds like no nodule, so thyroid cancer is not the issue here. Heterogeneous echo texture is non-specific, but certainly can be seen in Hashimoto's. Do you have normal thyroid function? Even if so, you could check TPO & thyroglobulin antibodies to see if there's evidence of autoimmune thyroiditis. Good luck! ...Read more
What does: Septated upper pole right renal cyst. Right kidney contains multi septated cyst, 4.5cm in size. May contain punctate calcification. - mean?
A single cyst: The cyst you have is not a simple cyst but a septate cyst, that means the cyst space inside is divided into multiple small spaces from by of bands of tissue. Calcification in the cysts is common from concretions from long standing fluid inside the cysts. But as the cyst if 4.5 cm, just be it monitored with help of US once in every yr-2 yrs to r/o cancer development. Look for pain, blood in urine ...Read more
