Pulled Muscle Mid Back Right
I woke up this past Sat a.m. with what I thought was a pulled muscle on the left side of my mid back;now has radiated to upper abdomen.
This sounds like-: -it follows a thoracic nerve root. If extremely painful & you have not had a shingles's vaccination, this could be the cause. Intercostal nerves are higher in the back, & follow the ribs, so it would be in a lower location in the abdomen. If a painful rash follows, its shingles. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Muscles move joints, stabilize the body, move air and food through the organs, act as valves for bladder, bowel and other organs. They control movement of the eyes. They help us express ourselves by changing the shape of our ...Read more
Painful muscular type pain in my mid back for 3 days. hurts to the touch and very painful to sneeze. Active but no new exercise. Likely muscle strain?
Probably: Given your age, about 70% of all cases of acute back pain are self limited and due to "myofascial" irritation/strain. Sometimes sneezing can aggravate pain if there is a small tear of the outer coating of the disc capsule but even so there is an excellent chance of total resolution. Stay active, lift using your legs ( don't bend your back forward) and consider ice packs/OTC NSAID for 3-7 days. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Not unusual: Back and leg pain are common during pregnancy, though usually low back. Midback can occur, whether or not you are pregnant. Do not take medicine unless approved by your obstetrician. You can continue exercise, activity. Heat or cold may help. Talk to your primary or your OB if it persists or worsens. ...Read more
How to tell if it is a muscle problem or rib injury if I have significant pain in center of mid back? Was at gym, no problem. 30 min later, pain!
Back pain. Mid back. Only fine laying flat on back. Doesn't feel like a muscle issue as it's not sensitive to touch. Nerve?
Pelvis subluxation ?: 27y fem. w. "mid-back pain" better lying on back. Have seen in cases of sacroiliac subluxation caused by unilateral sacrotuberous ligament injury. Lying on back causes both posterior superior iliac spines to equally incur ground force of sleep surface & thereat shift both sacroiliac joints to neutral anatomic position. Detected by manual exam. Not discovered by MRI, which is "snapshot". Osteopath? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have been having painful mid back muscle spasms.I think? It just came on out of the blue two days ago.I'm not really active so what is this?
Non specific symptom: Just to illustate the range of causes abnormal posture can be a cause--scolisis, back sprain, internal organs like kidney and pancreas can cause lbp and cause you to spasm your muscle as a protective reflex - simple radiculitis from diabetes, shingles -then of course problems with disc--if persist need exam by doc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What is the treatment aside from surgery for diagnosed torn mid-back muscles after an injury? (2 inch radius).
Left mid back when pressed hard feel sort of a tender swollen spot, no pain in back or side, could this be a muscle, very nervous!
Very likely you: have experienced some sort of injury or trauma to your back. It is likely a muscle strain/soft tissue injury. This is fairly common and a person often doesn't recall how or when it happened. Often there is nothing to see (no bruising, etc). Ice it for 15 min 3-4'times a day; take ibuprofen according to directions. It should slowly improve; if not see your Doctor. Good wishes:) ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Suggestions to eleviate full mid back muscle spasms each morning? Ive tried stretching, jacuzzi,Aleeve, massage etc non injury related.
Epsom salts: Try taking a warm soaking bath in Epsom Salts (Magnesium sulfate), 1/2 to 1 cup in the bath water. Magnesium is the best muscle relaxer. How to tell if I cracked a rib, or just injured a muscle in center of mid back, below shoulder blades? Pain when bending but not if stationary.
Get an x-ray: An x-ray would be necessary to diagnose a fractured rib. Usually a fractured rib would be painful with movement, deep breathing or coughing. It would also be tender on feeling it. The center of the back would be an unusual location for a rib fracture--it should be off to one side or the other. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yesterday morning i stretched my arms up and immediately felt extreme pain on left side mid back. Strained muscle? Still hurts often going into arm?
Probably not muscle: It is unlikely that a muscle strain is causing radiating arm pain. The pain description you have given is more consistent with a cervical spine (neck) issue. Fortunately, it is very acute and likely to improve spontaneously. You can take over-the-counter medications and apply heat or ice. If the symptoms persist, worsen or become disabling, see your physician for more testing and treatment. ...Read more
have had lower- mid back pain month+, pain is from tight muscles. would skating injure my back more/ increase pain? wait 2 skate until healed?
It depends.: What you describe may be coming from your muscles as in a "pulled muscle" or may be coming from another part of your body such as your spine. Generally a muscle strain or sprain will resolve up to four to six weeks and rest, gentle stretches along with ice or heat, and over the counter antiinflammatory medications (if not contraindicated) may be helpful. After that time get a medical evaluation ...Read more

Deg. Disc, hern. Disc, when i sit, stand my mid back goes numb roughly the radius of a cantaloupe. Neck pain that pulls a muscle in head leaning forwd?
Bulging disc: Caused by bending the neck forwards, poor posture, using your arms in front of the body and lifting excessive weight. A thorough examination from a pain management specialist is usually sufficient to diagnose a neck disc bulge. A special physiotherapy management, rest and nsaids will ameliorate the condition in most cases. Rec.: see pain specialist for evaluation. ...Read more
Intense back spasms off and on for 2 wks in the mid-back in muscles that run along spine. Hurts to breathe, lift arms, laying on sides. What is wrong?
Persistent spasm: There can be many causes for this type of symptom. If you lifted a very heavy object, were playing contact sports, or were involved in a motor vehicle collision, this could be due to a vertebral compression fracture or rib fracture. If you have no history of trauma, then muscle spasm is more likely. If short of breath, this could be pulmonary embolus. You should be examined by a doctor. ...Read more

Does sharp pain in my mid back and shoulders mean cardiac problems? The muscles hurt my back when I lift my arms. Neg cardiac test 1 yr ago. Anxiety?
No: Heart pain never hurts just the back and shoulders- it may radiate to the back when it starts in the chest and becomes severe. The observation that lifting your arms provokes it is a good indication that the pain is muscular (not nerves). Rest, heat, and analgesics (like ibuprofen) will most likely help. Avoid heavy lifting and try to maintain good posture (i.e. avoid spells of leaning forward) ...Read more
What are the possible reason for a mid back muscle pain at left side?not the backbone. it hurts when sitting on a chair and hand lifting.
Varies: There are a number of potential causes of back pain on one side rather than in the midline, these can include a facet joint, sacroiliac joint, or disc herniation problem; or potentially a back problem that has caused a unilateral spasm. Don't hesitate to be seen. A detailed exam and appropriate studies can usually determine the cause. ...Read more

Chronic mid back pain for 3 years. My doctor said muscle spasms and i went to a chiropractor and spine doctor all with no help. ?
Correct diagnosis: Adolescents do not have ddd. They may have MRI findings of this, but generally speaking, ddd is extremely unusual in this age group. I would be more suspicious of scheuermann's disease (may be present without spinal deformity, but MRI findings will show multiple "degenerative" discs, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, etc.). I would invest some time and find a doc that will pursue the right dx. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Persistent 1.4x1.5cm lymphnode in armpit. Mild Muscle soreness in upper arms & mid back near rib area. Seems to come & go. I'm 18 lymphoma?

Been having vaginal bleeding, uncontrolled muscle twitching, twitching of the left eye, and "lighting bolt" pain in left side of my mid back, ideas?
Vaginal bleeding...: ...probably is the most important of your symptoms. I doubt the others have anything to do with it. Any abnormal vaginal bleeding needs professional evaluation. There are too many possibilities and you don't provide enough information to guess at the cause: hormonal, pregnancy, infection (e.g. STDs), and others. Get it checked out and also ask the doctor abour your other symptoms. Good luck! ...Read more

Hard to say: There area many possibilities and you may want to be checked. When the para spinal muscled of the neck go into spasm, they can cause similar sympts and can have a very benign course. Backs are tricky: because the back muscles play a major part in your daily activities they can frequently case pain when injured and be easily reinjured.
