Pulled Muscle In Back Of Head
Probably not: Back of the head pain with neck pain associated with no other symptoms is usually due to a neck vertebra that's 'out of whack'.Could also be due to an inflamed nerve or swollen lymph node. A good history & physical exam, incl. Osteopathic hands-on exam should find the cause. Manipulation may resolve it. If other test/treatment is necessary, your dr. Should be able to determine that.
It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Pain in the back left side of neck, head and temple. Only when I move my head to the left. Is this a pulled muscle?
Requires an exam: This may be a pulled, or strained muscle with associated muscular spasm. I suggest a medical examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment.
Back of head started feeling tender, now top of my head feels bruised, and like I pulled a muscle. Sometimes feel off my equilibrium and ears ringing?
Referred pain: Was there an acitivty that triggered this? There are nerces at the base of the skull that can cause pain to radiate over the top of the head. Also balance is controlled in part in the temporal bones, strain of the muscles attaching there can be a factor affecting your balance. Tinnitis can be caused by several issues. Best to see an ENT specialist.
On amoxicillin 4 strep. Throat feels better. Back of neck near base of head hurts really bad like a pulled muscle. On 1 side. Pain comes and goes. ER?
Best to see MD: I can't tell you that the two symptoms have anything to do with each other, but, olfactory hallucination, if that's what it is, needs to be evaluated. Please go see your doctor and explain.

If I move my head a certain way, I can feel a painful tightness from right neck thru right head. Could it be pulled muscle or nerve?
Neck muscle strain: You likely strained/injured your posterior long cervical neck muscles. Rest, NSAIDs, and very mild stretching as tolerated will likely hasten your expected full recovery. If symptoms persist despite doing these things for more than several weeks, seek medical attention for a thorough evaluation.
Several things: It could be due to trauma, like whiplash injuries or heavy work. Neck degenerative arthritis can do this. Irritation of some of the small nerves to the neck muscles are a possibility. If it is not getting better, talk to your primary doctor or a specialist who takes care of neck problems.
I have weakness to my 6th nerve muscle and the past week I've had burning sensation on top and back of head. Can this be related?
May or may not: Main issue is the cause of your Abducens palsy, and if you have inflammatory disorder of meninges due to any cause, the burning could be associated due to involvement of trigeminal or greater occipital nerves. If your N VI issue is congenital or post-traumatic, then there is NO relationship.
Pain in left shoulder especially when turning head to the right, how can I be sure this is a pulled muscle and not my spleen, pain under left rib too?
See a doc: It is unlikely that you have an abdominal problem unless you recall a history or injury etc. Its likely your neck or shoulder. Nevertheless if concerned about spleen seek care at an emergency room.
I was stretching with my arms above my head and I heard a pop, and there was instant pain on the left side of my neck. Is it a pulled muscle or something else?
Probably: If it is a simple muscle pull or strain it will get better in a few weeks. Sometimes the facet joints make noise (pop) but that is usually harmless.
Whenever I lift my head up under the right side of my mouth jaw area it hurts, only when I lift up. It feels almost like a pulled muscle. Ideas?
Heads up: It very well may be a pulled, strained or cramped muscle. How long has it been going on and have you sought any remedies. If there is nothing you can think of that may have caused it and it has been ongoing go see your docotr for evaluation.
YES: YES- caused by multiple medical factors. Get examined and tested
What would cause inflamed muscles on the right side of neck n back of head on right side? How long should it take to go back to normal?
See below: You could have pulled a muscle in your neck or have a pinched nerve. You symptoms may resolve soon or could come back, or last for several weeks. If it continues to be bothersome, see your doctor for an evaluation.
See your dentist: Teeth grinding MAY be a subconscious release of daily tension. Try reducing stress, especially before bed (don't watch TV news as that is stressful). This may work or you may need a mouth guard to reduce stress. Some dentists have a Biolase Epic diode laser (not painful) which has a pain therapy mode which has been shown to be quite helpful.See 2 more doctor answers
