Pulled A Muscle Behind My Knee
I pulled a muscle behind my knee a month ago. It is still sore and it hurts. Will a walking boot help??
It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Muscles move joints, stabilize the body, move air and food through the organs, act as valves for bladder, bowel and other organs. They control movement of the eyes. They help us express ourselves by changing the shape of our ...Read more

I have a bulging disc and degenerative disc disease in my lower back. I pulled a muscle in my lower back can that cause me to have knee pain with move?
Yes: Yes, but @ age 25 deg disc disease is rather uncommon unless other factors involved. Back pain w/ nerve 'pinching' can cause knee pain BUT a good examination / history can normally distinguish between back and related nerve pain and a primary knee problem (tendinitis, kneecap, etc.). My reccommation would be to see a board certified ORS if your symptoms persist. Best of Luck!! ...Read more

My knee hurts sometimes without any reason two months. Doctor was taken X-ray and say nothing except muscle strain. Can I go my routin life.
Yes: Many people have knee pain for all kinds of reasons. Typically I tell my patients that your knees may hurt from time to time. As long as there is no swelling, fluid, redness, locking, catching or giving away it will probably improve with otc meds, ice and rest. Typically it may hurt you but you won't hurt it. ...Read more

Outer hip strain: Rest, ice, elevation, NSAIDS (motrin, aleve (naproxen) if no contraindications), massage, possibly muscle relaxant and kinesiotaping. I thought I pulled my hamstring last week so I elevated & heat packed it and this morning I felt something pop behind my knee what is it? Can u help
First of all, ICE-: -not heat. Depends also if the pop was in the same area that hurt when U "pulled " it. If it is & the pain is more severe & interferes with walking or standing, it could B an avulsion of the attachment @ the knee, which is a much more serious injury & frequently requires surgery. ...Read more

I pulled a tick from behind my knee 3 days ago. So far I have not experienced any symptoms. Should I still be concerned about Lyme disease?
Ixodes scapularis: You do need to make sure it wasn't a deer tick. They are very small. Compared to dog ticks for example. Do you still have the tick or did you discard it? If you have it, bring it to your PCP. F there's any question that it could be a deer tick, I would treat with doxycycline just to make sure. ...Read more

Hello I pulled a muscle in the back of my leg on Monday but I have woke up this morning and my ankle has swelled up?
Best to Check..: I don't know just how many days ago Monday was. It would be helpful to know if the muscle you "pulled" was in the lower leg or the upper leg. The lower leg might possibly involve a calf muscle injury or an Achilles tendon problem. The swelling might be the body's reaction to a tear or instability in the tendon. To remove all doubt, it would be wise to have it evaluated for other possibilities. ...Read more

If I woke-up this morning with leg pain, should I be concerned? It feels as if I may have pulled a muscle, but could I actually do that in my sleep?
You haven't said anything about your age, gender, medical history, or overall state of health, so it's a little tough for me to narrow things down, but there are some things that would explain this.
Given the snowfall in seattle over the past few days, have you maybe been doing some shoveling of snow or maybe some skiing or other vigorous physical activity? Could you have slipped while walking on the ice? Overuse of muscles or trauma might cause pain that wakes you up. A muscle cramp might also cause this type of localized pain.
If you have a history of vascular disease, or are at risk for it (older age group, high cholesterol, smoker or diabetic) then this could represent a blocked blood vessel. Do you have ongoing pain? Numbness? Are your symptoms increased with exercise? If so, then you should be evaluated for compromised blood flow. ...Read more
Sciatica: Sounds like you have sciatica, which is a syndrome of lower back pain with leg numbness, weakness or pain due to compression or irritation of sciatic nerve. It is commonly caused by disc bulging. Your sciatic nerve could be pinched due to tight muscles in your buttock (pyriformis muscle) or pelvic trauma. Would try anti-inflammatory or pain meds and heat/ice. Physical therapy is helpful for this. ...Read more
