What do you recommend if I have a pulled calf muscle over a year old, what should I do?

See an orthopedist: To have a "pulled calf" for over a year is unusual. I would recommend you see an orthopedist or sports medicine specialist to have your leg examined. Pulled a lower left calf muscle a 2 or 3 months ago. I don't run much for 2 or 3 weeks but it keeps coming back. Icing now and maybe IBprofin?

Pulled Calf Muscle: I have attached a video on the 3 stretches to do. Just never push through pain and do 5 times a day. With these injuries, getting some deep tissue massage from a PT can be the crucial cure. The PT will also be able to tell you if any imaging should be done. Good Luck. Dr Rich Blake

I have tightness in my leg under the calf when I am walking or exercising I work out 6 days a week with shawn t and I think I may haved pulled or strained my muscle, what should I do?

I: I agree that if you are able to walk, you may have a simple strain/sprain. However, I do not think that you need to see an orthopedic surgeon because of a sprain after 7 days. You see one when surgery needs to be done. An evaluation by a qualified primary care physician will be the first place to start. A good physician will know if this is a sprain/strain/tear/clot/etc and if surgery is needed and will make a referral to a good pain specialist if it is non surgical or a good orthopedic surgeon if it is surgical. ...Read more
