If the pain occurs at rest or just prior to sleep, one should consider the diagnosis of atypical restless leg syndrome (RLS). The pubic symphysis keeps your pelvis together in the front so I would expect it to take a few months until you feel normal. Be careful not to overdo it. I'd bet that some physical therapy would help guide you back into shape.
