Does anyone use protopic ointment for eczema and other skin conditions? I heard there were some dangers.

Does anyone use protopic ointment for eczema and other skin conditions? I heard there were some dangers.

Don't worry.: There is no credible evidence that Protopic ointment causes skin cancer in humans. There is a warning label in the package insert, but it is based on data from mice who were *fed* huge quantities of the active ingredient. Don't waste your $: There may be interactions with psych meds that modulate serotonin e.g. Prozac, Zoloft, (sertraline) etc. But evidence is sparse & comes from mouse studies. But I'd avoid it because it's mostly WORTHLESS. A careful review of favorable medical reports of GC found that THEY were mostly worthless. Think critically. Be skeptical. Arm yourself with REAL KNOWLEDGE. Don't be an easy mark for the snake-oil salesmen. ...Read more

Perhaps a dermatologist colleague could comment specifically, but overall it is very safe. ...Read more
