Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant which is a kind of antihistamine type drug (common cold or symptom drug).
Is it safe to take claritin-d every day? Are there long term side effects and what does pseudoephedrine interact with, if anything?
Allergies: In general, it it safe to take antihistamines everyday for allergies. Claritin-d includes the decongestant as you mentioned, and i tend to avoid that for people on a long term basis. It increases vasoconstriction and this has a variety of effects including more work for the heart and elevated blood pressure. There are other medications that can help with congestion. Hello! i%b4m pregnant week 23. Can I use pseudoephedrine (60mg twice a day), when I have a hard flu.
Avoid oral agents: At 23 weeks you're outside the teratogenic risk with this medication and are unlikely to do harm however these medications are never the first line for nasal and sinus symptoms during pregnancy . I would instead consider the use of saline nasal sprays and neti pots. ...Read more

Nasal sprays: You could try nasal sprays - Nasacort Allergy 24HR or NasalCrom, but these may take some time to work. Some patients do well with Saline nasal washes or Neti Pots. Also try using Zyrtec or Claritin instead of Benadryl, to reduce side effects. ...Read more

I have dosed pseudoephedrine hci, guaifenesin, and dextromethorphan hbr. I also took 2 10/650 vicodin. Is this safe i took about 3.5 fluid ounces of Robitussin cf, which is what contained all of the ingredients listed. Is this combination potentially harm
No: 3.5 ounces of robitussin is an excessive dose in and of itself (usual dose is 15-30 ml, which is 1/2-1 oz). Combining this with 2 vicodin increases the chance of toxic effects. Follow instructions on otc medications if you want to use them safely, and tell the doctor prescribing the vicodin about your use of other medications with it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
