Would you consider glycerin suppositories safer for me then prune juice for constipation since prune juice causes excessive Diarreah?

Constipation care: The best way to manage constipation is with a daily regimen that keeps you regular. For many reasons it is not good to wait until you are very constipated, then take something to treat it. The best medication to use, which is safe to use every day, is glycolax. Use glycolax daily, consume plenty of fiber and drink lots of water. Avoid suppositoty use unless you are severely constipated. ...Read more

Why is it that everytime i drink prune juice for constipation I have to run to the bathroom with horrible painful diarreah and gas?

Osmotic laxative : Prune naturally contains sorbitol which has a mild laxative action. 18 month baby constant constipation, very hard stools and cries when pooping. The only relief is glycerin. Tried prune juice and veggies nothing works?

Call Pediatrician: Likely just extracts too much water from stool, leading to constipation. Can try apple juice as often better tolerated than prune juice (in quantity needed to help). Ask pediatrician about daily use of MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) (1/4-1/2 cap in bottle of juice) to help keep stools softer from "above" so glycerin needed less often "below.". ...Read more

I have constipation as a side effect of anafranil, (clomipramine) is it safe to take prune juice regularly , since it is a stimulant? how much should i take?

It's not a stimulant: in the way amphetamines are; it's a laxative. You may want to keep a rough tally of your consumption because prune juice is a food and does add calories to your diet. ...Read more
