Can prune juice worsen a bladder infection?

Can prune juice worsen a bladder infection?

Not likely to do so: Prune juice has quite a bit of fibers and roughage and is known to help with constipation. It may not have the best of taste, but I don't believe it causes any harm unless you are allergic to it. Ripe plumps are really good--yum yum.
Otc products such as Azo can help reducing bladder infection symptoms but will not treat it. So if you have trouble, consult doc for eval/treatment. Good luck. ...Read more

I'm really constipated lately. What in prune juice is supposed to help, since more fiber doesn't work in me?

Additional measures: People with severe constipation, adter adequate daily fiber and fluid intake, may need to add a daily stool softener or two. If this doesn't help, the next step can be the addition of a stool loosener such as miralax (polyethylene glycol). Follow the directions. Generics are fine. ...Read more

What is safe besides suppositories to treat constipation? How to make going easier? Prune juice safe at this age?

Constipation.: I can't tell your age from your profile, but prune juice is generally safe. A good first start would be to increase the amount of fiber in your diet, and perhaps adding a fiber supplement such as Metamucil. When you do this, you need to increase the amount of liquid in your diet also. If this does not help after several weeks, then you should see your doctor for further plans. Good luck. ...Read more

Hello. I had wanted to know if it's safe to heat up prune juice on stove top or microwave to make it more warm and for how long.?

Yes. ...: ... it is safe. Either method is ok, but it's best to avoid boiling. How long depends on how cold it is when you start: if taking bottle from the fridge, you probably need to pour out a glass, and heat at least a minute, but perhaps at 60-80% reduced power. Stove top ok, but seemingly more work. It is a great idea to enhance fiber in diet and stimulate a bowel movement. Good wishes:) ...Read more

My 7 months old formula fed son is constipated, I started him on baby food. Tried giving him prune juice but unsucessful. What else can I give him?

Depends: Try to find out if a particular food is causing this. I've noticed sweet potato, bananas and some cereals often do (but it could be something else). Try to eliminate that food or at least decrease. If none found, then make sure baby is getting enough liquids and fiber in diet. Then, you can try giving prunes and other fruits in higher amounts. If still not better, talk with your pediatrician. ...Read more

How much if any of the properties of prune juice will pass through the breastmilk to a child? If I drink it in moderation will my daughter benefit?

Insignificant: It will probably not have a significant effect to benefit your infant for her bowel movements. You might hear of anecdotal reports of laxative effects, however, no studies have concluded connections with a mother's intake of prune juice and subsequently breastfeeding and later facilitating looser stools in infants. ...Read more

How to get rid of severe constapation? I've tried almost everything and prune juice works but I'm not back to normal. I have to drink that to regular

Here's a tip: Do get with your physician on this. Be sure you are not hypothyroid and be sure you do not have undiagnosed porphyria. Beyond this, stay well-hydrated and get enough fiber in your diet; milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) is a safer laxative for you. ...Read more

Terrible diarreah from Miralax & prune juice. Gastro said it's better that having another obstruction and to continue this. Is this safe? Dehydration?

There should be: A "happy medium" between obstruction and diarrhea. Perhaps you should decrease the amount of Prune juice (which is the "variable" "dosae:) until you have soft stools with 'reasonable" frequency!
Hope this is helpful!

Hi, I been constipated for a few days now an I've tried certain over-the-counter products. Prune juice, ex-lax etc. I recently tried using a soposito?

Constipated: Chronic constipation can be difficult to treat. If you have not been evaluated with x-rays and possibly colonoscopy, then you need to see your doctor for further evaluation. Many times if anatomically things are normal it requires dietary changes, such as getting plenty of fiber intake as well as drinking plenty of water daily. Laxatives are one of the worst things that you can take for this problem. ...Read more
