Prozac The Best Choice Wiith Buspar
Take treatment for GAD by Prozac 40 mg,my GP wants add either Buspar (buspirone) or Wellbutrin to encounter side effects of Prozac, which the safe and ideal combo?
Buspirone : You may want to talk to your doc about a psychiatry referral since it sounds like (a)he may be in over their head. Buspirone is an anti-anxiety drug, but both Prozac and Wellbutrin (bupropion) can potentially exacerbate anxiety. There are many other potential options if Buspirone is not beneficial, but I would not abandon it before max dose of 60 mg/d. It should be taken 3-4 times dailu ...Read more

A # of options: This is best discussed with the patient's provider. If the depression is atypical, wellbutrin (bupropion) is a good choice. For typical depression or anxiety - a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor can be used. If the person needs something more on the sedating side - a medication like Remeron may be considered. There isn't one best medication to use - it depends on how the patient tolerates possible >>. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

No generral best: The issue is which one works for you individually. If Wellbutrin (bupropion) is not working consider increasing tthe dose. if that doesn't work consider adding prozac or zoloft gradually. Both can be used at same time. If your dr wants to go to one, titrate the one to stop Down while titrating the one to keep Up. Dr's supervision advised. ...Read more
Is brintellix the same as taking Buspar plus an ssri? I want to stay away from Buspar if possible. Same question regarding viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride).
No.: Brintellix is a new antidepressant which prevents the reupatake of Serotonin like the SSRIs however its exact mechanism of work is still unknown. It works on some receptors but the benefits is still unknown. Buspar is an ti -anxiety medication. Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) is another newer SSRI. TITRATE: If someone is depressed enough to need an antidepressant the usual is to stay on it for a year to 1 1/2 years on the dose that works. Cannot say: It depends on the person, severity of symptoms, other health issues, and other meds taken. Is Buspar (buspirone) and Propranolol safe together? Pro is great for my BP and panic and Buspar (buspirone) works for my anxiety. Is the combo safe?
Alternative: These meds. have the possibility of interacting with each other (although this can be minimized by starting with a low dose). That said, there are safer alternatives. Personally, I tend to try Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) + Wellbutrin XL for patients who aren't doing well on an SSRI alone. But this is a matter of prescriber preference and what your physician feels is the most appropriate for you. Hope that helps! ...Read more

Can I take Remeron with Lexapro (escitalopram) to counteract the decreased sexual effects of Lexapro (escitalopram). If so what is a safe combination. Thanks?
Remeron (mirtazapine) can help: There are some studies in which adding Remeron has alleviated sexual side effects. It doesn't work for everyone. Remeron can also provide synergistic relief for the primary symptoms. At lower doses, it tends to be sedating and can increase appetite (so might add to the potential SEs with Lexapro (escitalopram). At higher doses, it tends to get more activating as norepinephrine activation surpasses serotonin. ...Read more
What r possible alternatives to anafranil in treating severe purely obsessive ocd? Clomipramine along with zoloft, (sertraline) lamictal, propranolol, and trazodo
Hi-dose SSRI, CBT: On the medication side, ssri antidepressants such as zoloft (sertraline) are the most used, often at doses higher than typically prescribed for depression. It's also worth considering psychotherapy. Cognitive-behavioral approaches such as cbt or erp (exposure and response prevention) are often helpful for ocd. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Paxil (paroxetine): Of the two drugs you mention, Paxil (paroxetine) would be better for anxiety and ocd. It is in the ssri class, which is known to treat these conditions. Nefazodone is a sedating antidepressant. It might decrease anxiety via sedation, but is not directly anxiety-relieving. Nor does it treat OCD to the best of my knowledge. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
