Is it ok 2take provera (medroxyprogesterone) 10mg for 7days only instead of 10 to induce a period?
Yes: Typically you will have a withdrawal bleed after 7 days of taking Provera (medroxyprogesterone). I know sometimes doctors recommend 10 days as well. If you don't bleed after 7, then consider re-consulting with your doctor to determine cause of not having a withdrawal bleeding after the Provera (medroxyprogesterone). Best of luck to you ! ...Read more

Why do you need to take the provera (medroxyprogesterone) 10 mg for all ten days ? Couldn't you induce a period with less?
Yes, 5-10 days: Of Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is all you need to induce withdrawal bleed. I usually give a 5 day course of the 5 mg since i'm not a big fan of synthetic progestins due to the long term side-effects but most of the dosing is based on your doctor's experience. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is there anyway I can induce a period after getting off the Depo-Provera shot after being on it for two years?
Yes but...: DepoProvera has a long half-life and can remain in the body for up to 18 months after the last injection. This can wreak havoc with the natural hormonal cycle for months. There is no way to remove the DepoProvera so the only solution to inducing a menses with residual DepoProvera on-board is with a combined hormonal contraceptive that contains an estrogen. But this will not induce ovulation. ...Read more

How long after your Depo-Provera shot runs out will your dr give you provera (medroxyprogesterone) to induce a period?
Not best treatment: Taking Provera (medroxyprogesterone) to induce a period after a woman has been on depo-provera injection is not the best treatment. The lack of periods in this situation is due to low estrogen. Taking Provera (medroxyprogesterone) by itself will not reliably induce a period without first making sure estrogen levels are higher. This will happen over time, with use of a medication called Clomiphene or with combination birth control pills. ...Read more
