I was prescribed provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 7 days. After my provera (medroxyprogesterone) period am I going to ovulate?

Provera (medroxyprogesterone): Not necessarily, provera (medroxyprogesterone) only creates a withdrawal bleed, sort of resetting your menstrual clock and cleaning out your uterus, you may or may not ovulate ...Read more

I'm on the Depo-Provera jab, period has come back after having none for 2 years. Is this bad?

Normal on Depo: Bleeding on depoprovera is highly variable. There is no normal time for your period on this birth control method. Most have no periods. Some have irregular bleeding. Irregular bleeding can be annoying but it does not mean that the method is not working. This side effect is very typical of Progesterone only birth control methods. If you are done having children consider essure instead. ...Read more

Had never started a period and after lots of testing diagnosed with POF, on Estrogen gel and Provera (medroxyprogesterone). Period only lasts 1 day, does this right?

Had never started a period and after lots of testing diagnosed with POF, on Estrogen gel and Provera (medroxyprogesterone). Period only lasts 1 day, does this right?

Very likely OK: Light vaginal bleeding in response to some estrogen and some protestin is to be expected in general but may not necessarily tell if the amount of these hormones is sufficient to treat your "POF". You may need to consult your Gyn-Reproductive endocrinologist for ensuring that you are receiving enough estrogens. An oral estrogen may be much more effective and preferable at your age. ...Read more

Provera (medroxyprogesterone): Hi. Provera (medroxyprogesterone) withdrawal is usually just a test to see if a woman who's not having periods is making estrogen. It doesn't put ANY hormones back into whack if they're outta whack. With your abnormal pap and leep, see your gyn to at least make sure your cervix isn't acting up. Good luck! ...Read more

Am trying to get pregnant I had Depo-Provera once period started back in jan but its hard to tell when am ovulating. Just had period april 10-14th.?

Hard to tell: The median time to conception and/or return to ovulation following discontinuation of Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is 10 months after the last injection. However, it can be as long as 18 months after. During this time you might experience irregular bleeding so it would be extremely difficult to judge when you might be ovulating. ...Read more

Been on depo, period stopped completely after I got the first shot. Its been 1 yr on Depo-Provera & no period. Now brown/red blood and cramps out the blue?

Can happen: Depo-provera is a long-acting hormone that slows then stops the growth of the lining of the uterus (which gets shead when you have your menses). After a while, the lining of the uterus can get so thin that small blood vessels are exposed, causing irregular spotty bleeding. If heavy or lasting more than a week, see a gynecologist. ...Read more

Taking provera to induce period. Took it for 10 days, how many days after stopping should I expect to start bleeding?

Within a few days: I usually see bleeding start from 1 to 7 days after finishing Provera. If you finished Provera more than a week ago, and you still haven't bled, then you probably won't, and you might want to talk to your GYN about other reasons for your period being delayed. ...Read more

After taking estrogen and provera (medroxyprogesterone) & no period yet, what's wrong?

Amenorrhea: If you were being treated for amenorrhea (no periods) a common therapy is to give Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 5 days and wait for your period in 1 or 2 weeks after last dose. If that does not work, estrogen can be given for 21 days followed by Provera (medroxyprogesterone) and again wait for your period. If that doest work your physician must rule out other medical conditions that cause amenorrhea. ...Read more

Waiting for hysterectomy for abnormal bleeding. Dr put me on 10mg of provera (medroxyprogesterone) and period got worse. Increased to 20mg and still no change. Help please?

Alternative solution: If I understand you need a hysterectomy (hopefully minimally invasive so quick, less painful recovery). I would infer your doctor is trying to buy some time with the provera (medroxyprogesterone) that's not working.

Contact your doctor and see if they want to do a withdrawal bleed?

Also see if your blood count suggests anemia?

Is there a possibility of having an endometrial ablation? ...Read more
