Steroids: People with chronic asthma or COPD if they need steroid should not be withheld as it is lifesaving. We do have to protect the bones as we want to avoid most of all spinal fractures. Temporary jitterines: For the most part, you may experience temporary jitteriness that usually lasts for 15-20 minutes after taking it. This is because the medication causes an increase in heart rate. You may want to consult your physician prior to taking this if you have any heart problems. This is the most common side effect. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

No: O2 should be prescribed by a pulmonary physician after finding that your o2 levels are low. Low o2 mean severe pulmonary or heart disease. Reason should be investigated. You need to stop smoking asap. It is not helping and is worsening your condition. I suspect you may have a combination of chronic lung disease/ reactive airway/ heart condition. Consult an internist/lung specialist soon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
The New Spiriva Test: Spiriva inhibits wheezing while the test is used to provoke it so, yes,the test will be affected. At that point maybe call it a "Spiriva Test" in that,if it resists the effects of the methacholine, then it would probably work for you! But,of course, that's not how the test is done. They'd want you off that med for a day or two before doing the test-and any other respiratory meds you take, if possible ...Read more

My dr prescribed prednisone 5mg twice daily for bronchitis. I take sinthroid 25mg for my hypothyroidism. Is it safe? I'm coughing and wheezing a lot.
Wheezing treatment: It is safe to take both medications together. There are no interactions between them. 10 mg total daily Prednisone is a low dose. You might need a higher dose if you are still wheezing. I assume you are taking antibiotic for bronchitis too. Talk to your doctor if wheezing persists and you don't get better. He or she might need to reevaluate your symptoms. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Yes: You need to see your obstetrician right away or go to urgent care or emergency room. Besides overdosing..: Albuterol can relieve symptoms, but will not do anything to treat the underlying condition. Anyone taking it frequently may be masking a serious underlying condition that needs treatment with "controller" type medications. Albuterol: Albuterol is a type of beta-agonist. It acts by activating beta receptors in lungs which results in dilation and easier breathing. It can also speed up the heart rate because of its beta receptor effects. It has no steroidal activity. However, both bronchodilators and steroids are used in treatment of asthma. Albuterol is used by asthmatics both in inhaler and nebulizer form. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
