Facial features can be familial (passed from parent to child), or they can sometimes be due to a medical condition.

2nd opinion: Your pediatrician is likely correct, though you may want to get a second opinion. If you or baby's dad have the same type of eyes, than it is just an inherited trait. If his eyes are quite different from yours and are truly getting traumatized, you should consider seeing a pediatric ophthalmologist. Your pediatrician can refer you as needed. ...Read more
