Will supplementing a lower protein semi-vegetarian diet with whey protein powder improve immune function?
Probably: This depends on sufficiency of protein in your diet but deficiency of Amino Acids is not unusual ; grows more common as we age, as most over age 60 produce insufficient hydrochloric acid, needed to digest protein. Low protein impairs immune function; whey is a superb source proven to increase glutathione, important for immune function. There are big differences in quality-see http://bit.Ly/1fpottv. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Beans: Most fruits and vegetables have a relatively low amount of protein, usually in the 5-6 percent range or so. Nuts, beans, and even humus have quite a bit higher levels of protein and are often used because of that. There are meds used to control gout in different ways. Low dose aspirin and thiazide diuretics tend to raise uric acid levels. Alcohol, especially in large amounts, often causes attacks. Low purine diets are slightly effective. ...Read more

ForTheMostPartYesBut: That's like asking "are those cars safe?" You must check out the details, called ingredients. It also depends on what you'll want to get from the shake. It's complicated. For pure protein I prefer egg whites ...Read more
Possibly: Remember, nutrition is more than just about protein. You need proper balances of many minerals and nutrients in the proper dosages. Speak to your physician or ask a sports nutritionist. In the meantime, i'd choose a multi-nutritional drink such as ensure or boost to provide you with the necessary nutrients you need if you cannot eat properly. Your dentist may also help. ...Read more
Better available: It is ok but i think you can do much better. My concerns: the main ingredients are soy and milk protein. Almost all soy these days is gmo unless it is organic & there is evidence this is unsafe. Milk is mostly from cows fed gmo corn & soy unless organic. Amway does not use organic sources. A much better protein powder is whey cool from grass-fed cows. Also take a good multivitamin. See comment:. ...Read more
