Tested for anti cardiolipin IgM is negative(0.7) but IgG is positive (54.8) normal range of lupus anticoagulant, protein S and protein C activity help?

Not sure: I am not sure I understand the question. I suspect you are being evaluated for a blood clotting disorder and you have an elevated anticardiolipin IgG. One test however does not make the diagnosis of anti-phospholipid syndrome. ...Read more

I got test back that said my fibringen activity antithrobin III protein c protein c antigen were high watch would that mean thank u?

Need more info: None of these labs being higher than normal value are clinically problematic. You did not say why the labs were done; i assume you must have an abnormal clot. Low at-iii and low protein c can be related to abnormal clotting. ...Read more

Wait: For most work up, this can be done during the same presentation. However, for protein c and s it is best to wait 2 weeks after the clot / stroke event... ...Read more

What are protein c and protein s tests?

What are protein c and protein s tests?

Tests for clotting: People whose blood tends to clot excessively can have deep vein thrombosis (clots in veins in the legs or abdomen) or pulmonary emboli (clots that travel to the lungs). A deficiency of protein c or protein s, among other things, can cause excess clotting. Tests for protein c or s are used to diagnose levels of these proteins in the blood. ...Read more

What does it mean when elevated levels of protein c and protein s ?

What does it mean when elevated levels of protein c and protein s ?

See below : These are blood tests that we usually do to screen people who we think have a predisposition to have blood clots. By themselves they don't mean anything as normal people can have elevated levels. If you have a strong family history of blood clots or if u have had a blood clot yourself then this test could have significance. The best thing to do would be to discuss with a hematologist. ...Read more

Blood coagulation: Protein C and S work together in regulating the clotting of blood. These proteins are important in controlling the amount of blood clot formation inside blood vessels. Deficiency of either can lead to venous blood clot formation. Deficiencies of both are not that common. ...Read more

Can a person have both a protein c and protein s deficiency?

Can a person have both a protein c and protein s deficiency?

Yes: Combined protein c and protein s deficiencies can occur in one individual who is unlucky enough to inherit both autosomal dominant traits. This is very rare. Care should be taken as to when to check levels of these two proteins since both of them would be low in patients taking warfarin since both are also vitamin k-dependent in their production in the liver. ...Read more

I just received some test results back that said my protein c is high, protein s is low my pai-1 is high, my chloride is high and my co2 is low?

I just received some test results back that said my protein c is high, protein s is low my pai-1 is high, my chloride is high and my co2 is low?

Clot risk.: A high protein c has no significance, only low. A low protein s, like protein c, is a risk for having abnormal blood clots or pregancy complications. Protein c and s cooperate to dissolve blood clots. Pai-1 blocks the clot dissolving pathway, so a high level also is a risk for abnormal clots. A high chloride and low co2 are part of the salts in the blood that are regulated by the kidneys. ...Read more
