Protein And Leukocytes In Urine During Pregnancy
Had blood and urinalysis 7/15. Blood work was all normal but urine showed creatinine level of 409, trace protein, trace leukocyte esterase, WBC, hyali?
Stop worrying: I understand you have fibromuscular dysplasia of the renal arteries and hope this can be addressed. The urine creatinine, trace protein and hyaline casts are non-issues, the trace of leukocyte esterase and white cells (unless very numerous or you have symptoms of infection) are likely contamination, and if your physician is not concerned, I would not be either. Best wishes. ...Read more
Urine is the product of the kidneys, which is produced to eliminate the waste products of metabolism, manage body fluid balance, &maintain acid-base balance. The blood is first filtered by the kidneys, and the composition of the resulting fluid is then altered depending on the body's needs. It is composed of mostly water, and breakdown products from blood cells impart ...Read more
Immune response: White blood cells are part of the body's defense system. They attack what is not supposed to be in a particular human's body like bacteria or cancer cells. Half of a fetus is from the father, resembling a transplant. Mom's immune system would reject the fetus, if it wouldnt' be modified in a way not to do that. Part of the process is an increase in the leucocyte numbers. ...Read more
Leukocytes ; protein: This means there is a source of protein ; white blood cells in the urine. The meaning of this needs to be looked at with any other lab abnormalities, signs/symptoms, clinical context. If nothing else abnormal, then wbcs with protein is entering your urine in some way. Several issues: Blood (hamturia) and leukocytes (wbc's in the urine) are common signs of a uti, and you should be evaluated and possibly treated with antibiotics. Protein could be a sign of high blood pressure, posible diabetes, or a simple finding of early kidney disease. Have yourself examined and treated as necesary and then get a follow-up urine as part of the process. Good luck. ...Read more
Creatinine level is 3.9, leukocytes 3-5, erthrocytes 10-12 protein ++ in urine. Could it be my medications?
High creatinine: You should see a nephrologist to get answer to your question. Some medicines, of the advil (ibuprofen) class, can cause acute renal failure, which reverses once you stop taking them. Due to the presence of protein and blood in your urine, you need a 24 hour urine collection for creatinine clearance and protein. You also need some blood work to see if you have diseases that can cause proteinuria, diabetes? ...Read more
My urine was bubbling so I had a urine test done which I got a copy of saying protein positive&trace of leukocytes what could this mean? Causes?
I had a urine dip and it showed leukocytes+++, protein+ and erythrocytes+++. What does this mean? And ++? I don't understand..
Talk to your doctor: Leukocytes in urine can indicate inflammation or infection. Inflammation will cause protein loss as well. If you have a urinary tract infection, have it treated and re-check your urine. If it normalizes, do not worry. If no infection, more studies are needed to find out why there is kidney inflammation. It helps to quantify the protein loss. If severe, can lead to kidney failure. ...Read more
Urine analysis: Your leukocytes can indicate a urinary tract infection (uti), your ketones, with no glucose, indicate that you are not ingesting carbohydrates and your protein could indicate the presence of a UTI or proteinuria. Get your physician culture your urine, if it has leucocytes and if it is positive, get start on antibiotics. If you have no uti, get a 24 hour urine for protein to quantify it in it. ...Read more
Urine dipstick shows leukocytes, protein and presence of blood. I have no other symptoms of a UTI. Is this something else?
Urinary evaluation: Well this is clearly an abnormal finding -so a professional evaluation is warranted. I would be looking for a full urinalysis -not just a dipstick. There are other diseases that could cause 'sediment' in the urine -so part of this could be explained by whatever medical issues you have now. I would call your primary doc and set up an apt-preferably this week. If you get urinary symptoms-Urgent Care ...Read more

Small bilirubin, trace ketones, 100 protein, lrg RBC, small leukocytes in urine? 2nd UTI in a month, results after I left office, is this normal?
Abn U/A: Not normal. Male or female? The trace ketones, small bili and protein suggests you have not eaten in a while, or mild DKA if DM. Repeat after 2-3 glasses of water. The RBC, trace leukocytes suggest period, UTI, renal or in females I see this with vaginitis from mycoplasma/ureoplasma, rarely in abd issues. I treat w/zithromax and flagyl. if protein persists needs eval for kidneys F/u w/ doc ...Read more
Hi, what could it mean to have blood, protein, glucose and leukocytes in urine of a 15 year old girl? She also has raynaud's diasease + HSP
Autoimmune disease: HSP is one of the autoimmune diseases that are relatively common in childhood and generally resolve over many weeks and does not return. However, some patients with HSP will go on to have chronic autoimmune inflammation in their kidneys (and skin or gut) that requires evaluation and treatment by both a pediatric rheumatologist and nephrologist. If protein and blood are still in urine, don't delay! ...Read more
Urine dipstick test shows pH of 7.0 and traces of leukocytes and protein. She prescribed Macrobid I went in for loose stools and back and pelvic pain. Should I take the medication
No: Trace leucocytes & trace protein are within normal limits & may be simple contaminants such as from vaginal epithelial cells. Presumably nitrite was negative which would have indicated baceria in your urine. Urine culture from a mid stream specimen, separating labia to avoid contamination, after cleansing with soap towlettes, would be more definitative for uti. That way you and your dr. Would know. ...Read more

Back, flank & abdo pain for 5-6 months. Persistent bloating. Sudden weight gain. Elevated blood phosphate levels. Trace protein & elevated urine leukocytes & erythrocytes. No uti. What could be wrong?
See answer: Not knowing details of your medical hx, Fludrocortisone is a steroid and weight gain one of its common potential side effects. Most common cause of elevated phosphorus levels is kidney disease. Your abnormal urinalysis could be related to some kidney disease as well or other underlying abnormality of urinary tract. If kidney function normal, ct scan imaging may be indicated. Discuss with your md. ...Read more

24w pregnant. Blood work shows Granulocytes immature little high, cut off 0.2 and mine is 0.2. WBC and neutrophils high too Normal during pregnancy?
Yes: White blood cell counts are normally higher than usual during pregnancy. You did not give the actual numbers. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, I do not see any reason for concern. ...Read more
Urine test shows trace of protein, WBC at 0-2 p.C., bacteria + and epithelial cells +. Can you please advise what this might indicate?
Several things: The kidneys serve as a sieve and metabolic control system. If the kidneys are damaged, it is possible that proteins, casts, and blood cell components will be seen in the urine. This may be part of an infection or a more serious kidney damage. Further evaluation is recommended for this combination. ...Read more
WBC's & UTI: A clean catch urine usually does not contain wbc's, which may indicate a sign of asymptomatic bacteria in the urine (urinary tract infection). The urine can be sent to a lab for culture & sensitivity to see if any bacteria will grow to confirm or not the possible infection. ...Read more
