Stop worrying: I understand you have fibromuscular dysplasia of the renal arteries and hope this can be addressed. The urine creatinine, trace protein and hyaline casts are non-issues, the trace of leukocyte esterase and white cells (unless very numerous or you have symptoms of infection) are likely contamination, and if your physician is not concerned, I would not be either. Best wishes.

Urine (Definition)

Urine is the product of the kidneys, which is produced to eliminate the waste products of metabolism, manage body fluid balance, &maintain acid-base balance. The blood is first filtered by the kidneys, and the composition of the resulting fluid is then altered depending on the body's needs. Why the number of leukocyte increase in pregnancy?

Why the number of leukocyte increase in pregnancy?

Immune response: White blood cells are part of the body's defense system. They attack what is not supposed to be in a particular human's body like bacteria or cancer cells. Half of a fetus is from the father, resembling a transplant. Mom's immune system would reject the fetus, if it wouldnt' be modified in a way not to do that. Part of the process is an increase in the leucocyte numbers.

What does it mean to have protein and leukocytes in your urine?

Leukocytes ; protein: This means there is a source of protein ; white blood cells in the urine. The meaning of this needs to be looked at with any other lab abnormalities, signs/symptoms, clinical context. If nothing else abnormal, then wbcs with protein is entering your urine in some way. Are there symptoms like burning with urine, flank pain, recent infection, etc? See your doctor for more assistanc.

What does protein, leukocytes and nitrates in urine mean?

UTI: Protein, Leukocytes, and Nitrates may imply that you have a urinary tract infection. Are you having any symptoms of burning, itching, increased urinary frequency, urgency? If yes, then you should connect with us via Healthtap or see your PCP as you may need antibiotics for your condition.

What exactly does it mean if blood, protein, and leukocytes are present in urine?

What exactly does it mean if blood, protein, and leukocytes are present in urine?

Several issues: Blood (hamturia) and leukocytes (wbc's in the urine) are common signs of a uti, and you should be evaluated and possibly treated with antibiotics. Protein could be a sign of high blood pressure, posible diabetes, or a simple finding of early kidney disease. Have yourself examined and treated as necesary and then get a follow-up urine as part of the process. Good luck.

Creatinine level is 3.9, leukocytes 3-5, erthrocytes 10-12 protein ++ in urine. Could it be my medications?

Creatinine level is 3.9, leukocytes 3-5, erthrocytes 10-12 protein ++ in urine. Could it be my medications?

High creatinine: You should see a nephrologist to get answer to your question. Some medicines, of the advil (ibuprofen) class, can cause acute renal failure, which reverses once you stop taking them. Due to the presence of protein and blood in your urine, you need a 24 hour urine collection for creatinine clearance and protein. You also need some blood work to see if you have diseases that can cause proteinuria, diabetes?

My urine was bubbling so I had a urine test done which I got a copy of saying protein positive&trace of leukocytes what could this mean? Causes?

See your doctor: Leukocytes (white blood cells) could mean an infection depending on what symptoms are present, it may be a good idea to have a culture to check for bacteria. Please discuss this with your doctor who ordered the test.

Protein in urine and leukocytes. What should I do?

Protein in urine and leukocytes. What should I do?

Talk to your doctor: Leukocytes in urine can indicate inflammation or infection. Inflammation will cause protein loss as well. If you have a urinary tract infection, have it treated and re-check your urine. If it normalizes, do not worry. If no infection, more studies are needed to find out why there is kidney inflammation. It helps to quantify the protein loss. If severe, can lead to kidney failure.

Protein and bilirubin and leukocytes in urine. What does this indicate?

Protein and bilirubin and leukocytes in urine. What does this indicate?

Genitourinary infect: If this only happens one time, you should be treated with an antibiotic for a urine infection which is indicated by the leukocytes. Protein can occur in this setting. Then a repeat urine should be done to assess whether you need any further evaluation.

What could small amounts of leukocytes, ketones, and protein in urine indicate?

What could small amounts of leukocytes, ketones, and protein in urine indicate?

Urine analysis: Your leukocytes can indicate a urinary tract infection (uti), your ketones, with no glucose, indicate that you are not ingesting carbohydrates and your protein could indicate the presence of a UTI or proteinuria. Get your physician culture your urine, if it has leucocytes and if it is positive, get start on antibiotics. If you have no uti, get a 24 hour urine for protein to quantify it in it.

Urine dipstick shows leukocytes, protein and presence of blood. I have no other symptoms of a UTI. Is this something else?

Urine dipstick shows leukocytes, protein and presence of blood. I have no other symptoms of a UTI. Is this something else?

Urinary evaluation: Well this is clearly an abnormal finding -so a professional evaluation is warranted. I would be looking for a full urinalysis -not just a dipstick. There are other diseases that could cause 'sediment' in the urine -so part of this could be explained by whatever medical issues you have now. I would call your primary doc and set up an apt-preferably this week. If you get urinary symptoms-Urgent Care

I have continued blood, protein and sometimes leukocytes in my urine over the last 4 months. 50% of my urine cultures come back normal though.?

Get checked: Persistent blood should be explained. You need to see a urologist to have them do further tests such as cystoscopy to examine in more detail.

Had a UTI and a urine test found blood, protein and leukocytes should I be worried?

Had a UTI and a urine test found blood, protein and leukocytes should I be worried?

Probably: If your urine showed protein, blood and leukocytes, it is highly suspicious for infection, although, the most sensitive of the measurements is the presence of nitrites. A culture may help in confirmation of the infection.

My GFR is 125 and have trace protein in urine also trace of leucocyte esterase, is there is something to worry about?

Needs more testing: Needs to have a quantification of the total protein in 24 hours urine in your case. This could be done by a urine sample and check for protein/creatinine

Small bilirubin, trace ketones, 100 protein, lrg RBC, small leukocytes in urine? 2nd UTI in a month, results after I left office, is this normal?

Small bilirubin, trace ketones, 100 protein, lrg RBC, small leukocytes in urine? 2nd UTI in a month, results after I left office, is this normal?

Abn U/A: Not normal. Male or female? The trace ketones, small bili and protein suggests you have not eaten in a while, or mild DKA if DM. Repeat after 2-3 glasses of water. The RBC, trace leukocytes suggest period, UTI, renal or in females I see this with vaginitis from mycoplasma/ureoplasma, rarely in abd issues. I treat w/zithromax and flagyl. if protein persists needs eval for kidneys F/u w/ doc

Hi, what could it mean to have blood, protein, glucose and leukocytes in urine of a 15 year old girl? She also has raynaud's diasease + HSP

Hi, what could it mean to have blood, protein, glucose and leukocytes in urine of a 15 year old girl? She also has raynaud's diasease + HSP

Autoimmune disease: HSP is one of the autoimmune diseases that are relatively common in childhood and generally resolve over many weeks and does not return. However, some patients with HSP will go on to have chronic autoimmune inflammation in their kidneys (and skin or gut) that requires evaluation and treatment by both a pediatric rheumatologist and nephrologist. If protein and blood are still in urine, don't delay!

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
