Beans, nuts, seeds: 1 cup of tofu has 20 grams protein, 10 grams of fat & 4 grams of carbohydrates. All beans, lentils and chickpeas are good sources of protein, as are nuts & seeds. Whole grains are good but not sufficient. Nuts are excellent. Yogurt is excellent. Minimize beans and lentils to have less flatulence.

Nutrition: Good fats are polyunsaturated like fish, nuts or monounsaturated like olive oil rather than butter, red meats, coldcuts pastries. Unhealthy carbs are refined sugar found in sweets, refined bread. Healthier carbs are the complex ones such as pasta, whole grain bread, oatmeal, potatoes, rice. It's advisable that you obtain a book on nutrition which gives you much more detail.

Nuts may be best bet: Don't know whether you are looking for snack or regular foods. Of course meat would be the obvious answer, but nuts contain very good fats as well as significant protein. Almonds and walnuts are probably best. So do cheeses. Of course they have calories, but you do need fats and calories at your age to continue to develop normally.

I think it depends: My brief research into this suggests it is debatable & depends somewhat on your goals: bodybuilding vs. fat loss vs. Maintenance. More carbs are needed for body building, and many fewer for fat loss. 40-60% carbs are recommended for body building, with 25-35% protein and 15-25% fat. You might target somewhere in the middle: 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat. Good luck!

You got it backwards: Fruits and veggies are NOT simple carbohydrates! Simple carbohydrates are sugars and foods that easily break down into sugars, such as white flour, white rice, potatoes and juices. These readily raise our blood sugar, which is unhealthy.
