Yeast infection?: BV can be difficult to keep in check, but maybe not be the only problem. BV doesn't cause soreness or itching; maybe yeast infection instead (or in addition to BV). Either way, this is unrelated to prostatitis. However, true prostatitis is uncommon in men under 30 (assuming husband about your age), maybe nongonococcal urethritis (NGU)? You could both visit an NHS GUM clinic for expert care. ...Read more

Probably no STD: Similar to your other question yesterday. I'm concerned you have not been seeing the right kind of doctors. Try to find a GUM specialist for both you and husband. BV doesn't catch itching, dryness, etc. NGU (same as NSU) is not a likely explanation for either of you. Maybe yeast? Impossible to have "no flora" in the vagina. All much too complex for a clear answer in any online forum. Sorry. ...Read more

No: BPH is not cause by poor hygeine or inflammation. It is a fibro-adeno-myoma. In simple layman terms it would be fair to call it a"benign growth" of the gland. ...Read more

What causes red itchy bumps on a childs genitals?

What causes red itchy bumps on a childs genitals?

Difficult to answer: Attempting to diagnose ; then properly treat rashes "over the phone" or without actually inspecting is usually ill-advised. Nonetheless, based on my experience of nearly 30 years of office-based pediatrics, rashes that most frequent the diaper region tend to be either due to yeast or irritation. If you have already attempted home treatment w/o success perhaps it's best to see your pediatrician. ...Read more

I had protected sex w/ female a week ago & have started to notice a slight itchy feeling on & around anus. Also have odor from genitals. No discharge?

STD and protection: Sean, I assume that the protection was likely a condom. While condoms offer a good deal of protection from most STDs, and they certainly helped prevent pregnancy, they cannot protect you from all secretions and potential viral and bacterial contact. One week is early and typically, it may take two weeks before other symptoms are noted. I would have an evaluation particularly if contact unknown ...Read more
