No: Prostatitis is diagnosed by clinical history and physical examination. Other tests are performed to help assist such urinalysis and blood tests. Since the symptoms are so variable, there is no 1 specific symptom or test to make the diagnosis.

Cycoscospy my diagnosis was cronic prostatitis im 26 weird huh perscribed flomax (tamsulosin) should I take saw palmetto as well at the same time?

Prostatitis: Prostatitis can occur at any age after puberty. Flomax (tamsulosin) will relax the prostate and make it easier to urinate but likely won't be needed long term as it is primarily used for BPH and you are too young for bph.

Are there lab tests to diagnose prostatitis?

Are there lab tests to diagnose prostatitis?

Somewhat: There's no *absolute* test, but the diagnosis is supported by an abnormal urinalysis, irritative urinary symptoms, and a rectal exam with a tender prostate.

8
Is there a test for prostatitis?

Yes: It depends as there are 4 types of prostatitis. History, symptoms, & urine culture will identify type's 1 & 2 as these are associated with bacterial infection. Urine obtained pre and post prostate massage will help identify types 3 & 4, but the distinction is less important as the managemen of both types 3 and 4 overlap.

Missing Info: You are not giving us the meat of the report. What is the colony of? Remember. It is the job of the ordering physician to interpret lab reports and to treat you appropriately. Going online is good for information. But, your question should be directed at your physician. The one who knows your symptoms and why you were tested in the first place.

I have been treating prostatitis using difference types of antibiotics since last 3 years, still I could not recover from it. Please advise what todo?

Prostatitis: See a urologist. Prostate is not an organ which is penetrated effectively by most antibiotics, so the choice of drugs will limit their efficacy. You also need to promote drainage, first with sitz baths, frequent ejaculation, and when the acute process calms down, prostatic massage may help. But please see a good urologist as there may be other problems associated.

What is the best treatment for prostatitis?

What is the best treatment for prostatitis?

Depends on age/cause: There are two types. One is a bacterial infection that needs to be treated with an antibiotic. The other cause is chronic and is treated with several medications-antibiotics, pain medication and medications to relieve symptoms of frequent urination, painful urination and feeling of inadequate emptying of the bladder.

What are the treatments for nonbacterial prostatitis?

Querceten ProsatQ: Non bacterial prostatitis is often referred to as chronic prostatitis. It is also referred to as cpps or chronic pelvic pain syndrome. As the name suggests, urine and semen cultures are negative and pain is the most important symptom. Many treatments have been advocated, but few have been shown by clinical trials tobe effective. Prostaq has been shown to be helpful as well as pregabalin.

Does flomax (tamsulosin) help cure prostatitis?

Does flomax (tamsulosin) help cure prostatitis?

Unfortunately not: Tamsolusin branded as Flomax (tamsulosin) belongs to a group of drugs called alpha-adrenergic blockers. It can only "soften/loosen your prostate gland" thus minimizing the compression of your urethra, hence allowing you to pee more efficiently. Prostatitis can make the peeing process more difficult and Flomax (tamsulosin) can help the symptoms a bit, but cannot cure prostatitis. Consult doc. Good luck.

I can't get rid of prostatitis? Its about six months old! Prescribed medications not worlking! I'm very upset help me..

Rare: Extremely rare for an 18 yo to have chronic prostatitis. Was it dx'd by prostatic massage or semenanalyses? Courses of antibiotics for chronic prostatitis should be rx'd for no less than 4 weeks, and possibly up to 3 months. If not caused by an infection, you may have prostatodynia. What are your symptoms? Consider zn/nsaids/ sitz baths. See a urologist.
