Prostate Cancer Gleason Score 7 Prognosis
Cancer is a group of diseases that is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth leading to invasion of surrounding tissues that spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more

High risk: Patients with prostate cancer are grouped into low, intermediate, and high risk disease based on t stage, psa, and gleason score. Independent of the t stage and psa, a gleason score of 9 is a high risk feature. This indicates a more aggressive and therefore more serious prostate cancer. ...Read more
Yes: Gleason score is assigned by the pathologist based on microscopy, and tells how aggressive the cancer is likely to be. Low gleason cancers nowadays may even simply be watched rather than overtreating. Common prostate cancer has only a modest tendency to run in families. Best wishes. ...Read more

I have prostate cancer, stage 6 on the gleason grading system. Which doctors in milwaukee will perform robotic prostate sugery?
Many urologists.: Many urologists in the milwaukee area commonly perform this procedure. Look at his/her physician profile before making an appointment. Be sure you fully discuss all the risks & benefits of treatment, & get multiple opinions. Many patients with gleason 6 disease will opt for active surveillance, depending on other factors; avoiding treatment all together. Be fully informed before making a decision. ...Read more
Does a person with a prostate cancer gleason score of 9 have any shot? Dr states hormone rherapy and possible radiation depend on ct/mri & bone scan
Prostate cancer, scheduled for rp, biopsies/6 of 8 positive 2aggressive w/ gleason of 7, CT & bone scan clear, male 55, healthy active. Prognosis?
I have prostate cancer. I have a gleson score of 7. I will have a radical robotic prostatectomy in 5 weeks. Is there a diet to slow the cancer growth?
Maybe: More information required. I assume with those numbers that some further testing ha been done to rule out metastatic disease. With gleason 9 cancer and a psa of 20+, there is high likelihood of extraprostatic disease, based on the partin tables. I would make sure that a ct of the abdomen and pelvis as well as a bone scan have been done before making any recommendations. ...Read more
Gleason (4, 5). I understand this is an aggressive type of prostate cancer. But how aggressive in terms of time before it spreads.
Recently diagnose with prostate cancer Tic, gleason 7 (3+4), PSA 4.97 Had some labs done. Absolute lymphocyte 4.3 (High), immature granulocyte. 5 (High). Other labs normal. What does this mean?
Review with your doc: Your urologist will review this in detail and consider your surgical options with you. Please get on his treatment plan and this will help avoid future worsening of this disease and as well give you peace of mind. There are many labs followed and checked prior to surgery and other treatments. They get compared to your previous baseline levels. Your doctor will explain this regarding your case. ...Read more
Male 55 healthy/active prostate cancer, scheduled for rp, psa 6.5 biopsies 6of8 pos 2aggessive, gleason 7. Are there other options to consider other than surg. Ct and bone scan clear.?
Yes but: Alternatives are external beam radiation and radiation seeds (brachytherapy). At your age, conservative (watching) isn't advised. All of the therapies can cause urinary incontinence and e.D. - with surgery, they get better over time for most. With radiation, they get worse over time. Surgery is the time honored best of a bad situation. Good luck. ...Read more

My dad has spine metastes frm primary prostate cancer, terminal, indefinate hormone therapy...Whats average prognosis please?
Depends how long: How long on hormones? If just started the cancer may respond for average of several years. If he was already on hormones for long time prognosis is worse months to a year or two using other option such as different drugs or chemotherapy. Not cureable at this point just delaying progression. Some are offering Provenge (sipuleucel-t) but it's new and not known how effective, this is a vaccine type of therapy. ...Read more

Masturbation at 20-30 's increase the risk of prostate cancer. While at 50's it lowers the risk. Is it true?
Just not true: It would be difficult to find a control group. There's not a shred of evidence that this is true. The claim that young men give themselves cancer in this way was made up by one of the cults to frighten vulnerable teens. "Heroic abstinence" is strongly suspected as a risk factor for benign prostatic hyperplasia but obviously we can't do controlled studies. I'm sorry people lied to you. ...Read more
