Hi doctors my sister is 15yrs old and she has hypertyroid. Her doctor prescribe ptu (propylthiouracil) 100mg bid and propranolol 40mg daily for 9 months but nathing chan?

Need new doctor?: Ptu (propylthiouracil) is not recommended due to potential for liver damage. When given, needs to be 3x/day. Propranolol will not work for the full 24 hours. If there has been no change in 9 mos she needs to have her regimen changed (and maybe her doctor as well). She should be seeing a pediatric endocrinologist. ...Read more

Hi I take propranolol for anxiety but I understand this slows my heart rate down, I want to join the gym but would taking propranolol be dangerous?

No: Generally no. Your maximum heart rate may be slower but being on propranolol should not pose a serious risk.
