Promethazine, vicodin, dextromethorphan, and guaifenesin safe to take together?

Promethazine, vicodin, dextromethorphan, and guaifenesin safe to take together?

Depends: Dextromethorophan and Guaifenesin are commonly together in otc cough meds. Vicodin is a narcotic that also has tylenol (acetaminophen) and promethiazine is for nausea. While someone with no medical conditions and no other meds might take them without negative result it is always best to use least amt of medication as possible and to discuss interactions with prescribing provider.

I was prescribed a cough syrup called promethazine-dextromethorphan before I pick it up I would like to know is the syrup gonna give me a high?

I was prescribed a cough syrup called promethazine-dextromethorphan before I pick it up I would like to know is the syrup gonna give me a high?

May be, may be not: This is a combination medixine, the prometazine part can cause CNS depeession, or at times stimulation, so be careful not to combine with other medications that affect the CNS as well, like OTC cold medicines which contain several ingredients similar in action to the one you were prescribed. Don't exceed recommend dosage, you may take it only as needed, call your doctor if any problem, good luck

Promethazine or: Phenergan is an anti-histamine which is used to treat allergies, motion sickness, nausea, vomiting, control of pain. Its most common side effects are drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth and blurred vision. But weight gain is not uncommonly reported...the drug may interact with appetite suppression mechanisms. Extra care should be taken to carefully monitor food intake/increase activity

Is phenergan (promethazine) an antiemetic?

Is phenergan (promethazine) an antiemetic?

Among other things: Phenergan (promethazine) is a phenothiazine (most of the family are anti-psychotics) which is used primarily for its antihistaminic, antiemetic, & sedative effects. Because it also blocks acetylcholine, it can cause dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, difficulty urinating. As a phenothiazine it may cause uncontrollable movement disorders (extrapyramidal reaction). Also a photosensitizer.

Can I take promethazine and zyrtec (cetirizine) togethet?

Not toxic, but why?: Both have antihistamine properties, if needing the anti-nausea of promethazine, should also address allergic symptoms. Otherwise, zyrtec (cetirizine) less sedating.
