It is bad. : This is the equivalent of 20/120 vision in the us. I have seen a denominator of 6 as well. This means that the perfectly sighted person could walk from 20 feet back to 120 feet or from six meters back to thirty six meters and see the same letters that the 6/36 patient could see only at 20 feet. Dry eyes: Your symptoms are consistent with dry eyes. Fluctuating vision would certainly make fitting for contacts more difficult. There is no reason to assume that the dry eyes are related to the glaucoma. However, travatan can potentially exacerbate dry eyes. ...Read more

Depends on Dx: If your husband has been diagnosed with age related macular degeneration, then if his is moderately advanced, taking an areds2 formulation (ocuvite, icaps, preservision) reduced the rate of advanced amd in people at high risk by about 25 percent over a 6-year period.
