Rec: Change Strategy: Why the belief, other than marketing, that you "need" extra vitamins? Buyer beware always applies; look for my answer “...Good idea to take a multivitamin daily...”. Alli not very effective & ? GI problems, etc. Better: 1. Cut carbs & quantity. Study nusi.Org, videos: "sugar: the bitter truth" & “how the government makes you fat” 2. Avoid otc products. 3. Is 10 mg of iron in a multi vitamin too much if I do not need extra iron? I took a multi with this amount for the last three days.

Not a problem: If you get enough iron in your diet (e.g., meats, beans, fortified cereals), and are not low on it somehow (e.g., women losing it with heavy periods) you won't need to take extra iron. However, the amount you mentioned is not a lot of iron. For comparison, a packet of oatmeal has approximately 11 mg of iron. ...Read more

I accidentally took 500x the recommended amount of vitamin b-6. Is this dangerous? I've been doing it for three days and gotten sick.

Only if continued: B6 is the only b vitamin known to be toxic, but one has to take at least 250 mg (and usually at least 500 mg) a day for several months before this occurs; the problem it causes is peripheral neuropathy and it is reversible after you stop it. Can a B12 level of 2000 be a result of a daily multible vitamin?

Can a B12 level of 2000 be a result of a daily multible vitamin?

Stop worrying: Reference ranges for labs are set up so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside. A high serum B12 is worrisome only when it's already obvious that you're seriously sick with something else -- if your CBC is anywhere near normal, ignore it. You may have some extra carrier protein in your blood, or may have just absorbed some from your daily vitamin. Good for you. Cheers. ...Read more
