Is it safe to take a 30mg dose of procyclidine?

A discontinued med: Procyclidine is an old antiparkinson medication (anticholinergic as well) but it is not that effective and incidence of side effects is quite high and so this med has been dicontinued in the us. The max dosage is 60mg/day. If you have parkinson disease or some one you know using this med, consider consulting doc for eval as there are better alternatives available. Good luck. ...Read more

How long does kemadrin procyclidine hydrochloride stays in system if 3 pills were taken?

It's not how many...: Pills so much as how long is the half-life. This med's half-life is 12 hours. It takes 5.5 1/2-lives for anything to clear, presuming the liver & kidneys are fully functional. So, you're talking 2.75 days, not counting any active recognizable metabolites. Caveat: Long-term use may have caused a saturation of the drug in parts of the body - like a bank savings account- usually fat, slowing process ...Read more

Procyclidine tablets treat Parkinson's disease?

Procyclidine tablets treat Parkinson's disease?

Would not recommend!: Procyclidine is an anti-cholinergic medication which can be used to treat pd, similar to Artane & cogentin. They have fallen out of favor due to multiple side effects & modest anti-pd symptom benefits. A much better choice would be azilect, then Requip xl or neupro, (rotigotine) then eventually sinemet. Stay physically, mentally & spiritually (if important to you) active to keep your self in best shape :) rmh. ...Read more

Other options tried?: Procyclidine is used for the treatment of drug induced Parkinsonism and to reduce side effects of akathisia secondary to antipsychotic use. Side effects include dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention, constipation, palpitations, and CNS effects. You list Klonopin, (clonazepam) which can be used to help subjective distress. Aminophylline overdose for children' my kid is 2 years old and took aminophylline 350 instead of 125 for two days twice daily what's longterm sideeffe?

Symptoms now??: Aminophyllin at that dosage over the long term can precipitate uncontrollable seizures. If the errror was caught before that ensued, the med would have the effects of irritability, headaches and rapid heart rate. After the level has dropped to normal and or the medication is out of their system, no long term problems are usually seen. As a cousin of caffeine, its effect and side effects r similar. ...Read more

I would like to know what the effects of and overdose of amoxicillin are for a 6 yr old girl? The amoxicillin is for two different children of different ages and my daughter just drank 3bottles that were almost full.

Not much: I agree with Dr McMullen, a call to poison control is worthwhile. I would not expect a real toxic outcome, but there is likely a good chance she will have diarrhea. The antibiotics will also kill off a lot of the "good" bacteria in her intestines, so it is a good idea to start loading her with probiotics to re-establish the gut balance. Also look into how/why she had access and make some changes ...Read more

Can you overdose without death?

Can you overdose without death?

Of course: Depends entirely upon what the drug being overdosed. This is a ratio, published for most pharmaceuticals, which gives a risk of the amount of drug to cause death. For some drugs like digitalis, it is a low number but for others like darvon, it is very high (meaning you can take a lot). Most overestimate this and suicide attempts with drugs usually fail for this reason. ...Read more
