Specific treatment with three antibiotics and bismuth for 2 weeks is usually successful in eradicating H.Pylori and ppi medications like nexium or protonix treat inflammation. Some people feel it can cause on going problems and it is worth taking the prescription regiman to get rid of it. It is one in regimen: Metronidazole is not the top line treatment for h. Pylori infection, but it is one of alternate med if others are not tolerated/allergic etc..Unless you have allergy to it or other contraindication, Metronidazole can be used.
