Generally not.: Most common side effects of proventil (albuterol) are rapid heart beat, shakiness, trembling, palpitations sensation in chest. Rarely, it can cause central nervous system side effects (anxiety, confusion, headache, dizziness). I do not believe change in memory or personality has been reported, but i never say 'never' when it comes to medication. Call your physician asap. ...Read more

Only if it causes: Tremors. You may have a trait of social anxiety to begin with. The tremors in the hands from the medication can be more pronounced for some people than others. Also, it can worsen social anxiety and make you feel more awkward if it causes your heart to race. I have sad and asthma and i understand your concern. Work with your pulmonologist and if necessary a psychiatrist to resolve your dilemma. ...Read more

Proair hfa has possible side effects to include: psychoses (auditory hallucinations & persecutory delusions), restlessness, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, confusion, mental status changes.
