Can only one ovary be policyctic? And the other be fine. And can primolut N alone help in PCOS

Can only one ovary be policyctic? And the other be fine. And can primolut N alone help in PCOS

Yes and Yes: One ovary can be normal on ultrasound and the other ovary can be polycystic. The cysts are follicles that have grown excessively. Abnormalities in pituitary hormone release and/or overproduction of androgens by the ovary contribute to the initial development of multiple follicles with no dominant follicle developing. Primolut N is a progesterone and can be used alone in selected patients. ...Read more

Can I take Primolut N paralell to my homeopathic medicine Agnus Castus? I have PCOS so will the two medicines interact with each other?

Can I take Primolut N paralell to my homeopathic medicine Agnus Castus? I have PCOS so will the two medicines interact with each other?

It is uncertain, but: Truly homeopathic "medications" are made by repeated dilutions, so that the ingredient is not really in the medication anymore (just the "essence" of it remains). That means there is no active ingredient left to cause any benefit. That also implies the homeopathic "medicine" should be pretty harmless, unless some non-homeopathic ingredients were added. If purely homeopathic, it might not interact. ...Read more

I m suffering from irregular periods and after blood test my dr says I have pcos and give me primolut n. 2 pills a day for 5 days. How many chances to get pregnant if I get periods. Can I ovulate after taking it.

Progesterone: Your doctor gave you Progesterone. This is used to trigger a menstrual cycle. There are other medications such as Clomid (clomiphene) which are used to assist with ovulation. ...Read more

I have PCOS- irregular but heavy periods. Last was 3months back. Now I have cramps, no bleeding yet. Will Primolut N delay this period for my wedding?

Primolut-N can delay: Your period for a certain time, but eventually the uterine lining will start to break down & you'll get your period. If you're having cramps or other premenstrual symptoms, it may be too late for Primolut-N to work. Your wedding date, which we don't know, is the crucial detail needed to answer your question. Pcos- gyn gave me aygestin (norethindrone) 5mg for 5days. Finished aygestin (norethindrone) 3 days ago & still no period. Typical? 5mg/5days enough? Had success w/ provera in past.

Not enough: It might be that a higher dose of Progesterone would work more appropriately. I would call and request 10mg of Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 10 days. If this does not induce a period, then it is worth a more thorough discussion with your doctor regarding why you are unable to shed the lining, or rather, why there is not lining to shed! ...Read more

Other options: See a gynecologist and ask to be evaluated for what is called amenorrhea. Progesterone does not work for everyone. Birth control pills often work better. There are some lab tests that your Obgyn may feel need to be done as well such as a Prolactin, TSH, FSH and LH. ...Read more

Primolut + dicynone: Primolut is a hormonal drug and should be gradually tapered down. Dicynone controls bleeding if it occurs. There is no known drug interaction between the two. Is micronor (norethindrone) effective full 24 hrs when taken on time? Or is 1 hr before taking pill not good time for sex?

OCP efficacy: As with all oral contraceptives (especially Progesterone only pills) it is important to take the pills at consistent time each day. If you have been taking them consistently since your last period it does not matter what time of day you take it or when you have sex, for that matter. More important is the consistent daily use. ...Read more

Take Plan B: Micronor (norethindrone) is most effective if you are also breast-feeding. If you are missing pills (and not taking them at around the same time every day) your chances of pregnancy are increased and its recommended that you use a back-up method such as condoms to prevent pregnancy. Taking 2 pills in one day will work if you only missed one pill the day before but if you have missed more than that it may not. ...Read more
