Dont understand ?: Barbiturates are older sedatives that are very dangerous and are no longer widely used, since they have severe addiction/overdose risk. Phenobarbital is still a useful drug in treating seizures and a few other neurological conditions, and butabital is used in migraine medication. They do not mix with alcohol, whether beer or any other form, and the combination is very dangerous and can kill you. ...Read more

Get diagnosed: Your jerks might represent myoclonus, and unlikely that Primidone is culprit, as it usually suppresses tremors, and focal seizures. But in some cases, older anti-epileptic drugs, especially those metabolized to barbiturates, could worsen myoclonus. Get this phenomenon diagnosed, and revise therapy as needed. I have IBS but nothing works for me.  I purchased 25 phenobarbital pills (100 mg each).  Can I use this for the pain of IBS?

Does not work: Phenobarbital is a sedative and can only put you to sleep and drowsy during daytime.. It is often used for convulsions also. It does not work for IBS. Please talk to your doctor to try some of the newer medicines and see if they work. IBS is a difficult condition to treat and often requires trial of different medicines to find out which one works the best for you. YUo need to have patience. ...Read more
