Together, they can both help with some asthma, but they are not enough. You need a controller, or anti-inflammatory medication as well. Some varieties of Guaifenesin come in combination with pseudoephedrine (ephedrine sulfate); don't take that version with primatene pills: both are stimulants. ...Read more

Good riddance: Primatine was inhaled adrenaline. It worked fast, lasted about 15 seconds, and was very dangerous. The fact that you used it without problems simply means you won that game of "russian roulette". Treatment of asthma requires you treat the underlying problem. Primatine only covered up the symptoms, and not even very well. If it was developed today the fda would have shot it down immediately. ...Read more

I used primeatene mist. Now ventolin. I'm now using the new med 3 to 4 times a day vs 1x a week before. Can the new med be causing more attacks?

Probably NOT: Primatene-mist is an Adrenalin (epinephrine) short-acting 'rescue' inhaler. Ventolin (albuterol) is another short-acting inhaler but is more selective on the bronchioles in the lungs.
