Prilosec10yrs+ Short seg Barrett's.HALO ablation2015.Barrett's gone.Prefer stop PPI's. Endoscopy July '16. Wait? H2 blockers enough? Combo approach?

Endoscopy: I would wait for July's endoscopic results before making any changes in your management. If there's no sign of Barrett's, your gastroenterologist may agree with avoiding more long-term ppi therapy in view of recent reports of adverse potential side effects. Is pepcid (famotidine) safe for everyday use? Thinking of switching from prilosec to pepcid (famotidine)

Is pepcid (famotidine) safe for everyday use? Thinking of switching from prilosec to pepcid (famotidine)

Pepcid (famotidine) long term: short answer - yes but my concern is given you age - why are you requiring either a proton pump inhibitor (prilosec) or an H2 blocker (pepcid) on a regular basis?? Assuming you have a medical condition requiring acid suppression - long term use may be appropriate. However, if you are taking it without a clear diagnosis - you need to be seen and evaluated to determine what is wrong. ...Read more

Combination of meds: pepcid (famotidine) blocks the acid receptors in the stomach and may interfere with the breakdown and therefore absorption of some of the medication you have mentioned...i would suggest taking the pepcid (famotidine) a few hours after your other medications but i know may patients who safely take all of these medications together ...Read more

I have bad social anxiety, depression, adhd. Currently take these psych meds: lexapro, Wellbutrin, (bupropion) klonopin, adderall. Still struggling badly. Ideas?

Add CBT therapy: Research shows that the CBT therapy optimizes psychological outcomes w/ or w/out medication. It's the component that can make changes in how you deal w/ the challenges (large and small) that are part of living. Unless we do that, we struggle w/ uncertain results.
