I get a prickly / tingling sensation in my lower back while I'm doing a lying down psoas stretch. Any ideas why this might be?

Nerve reaction: It is possible that you are impinging parts of the nervous system with this maneuver. Tingling sensations (paresthesiae) certainly suggest a nerve type reaction and you should try modifying your stretching technique. Read more

Can tight scalene muscles cause a prickly/sore sensation across shoulders and upper back?

Can tight scalene muscles cause a prickly/sore sensation across shoulders and upper back?

Neck: The scalenes muscles in and of themselves may not cause this sensation. The other muscles or the upper back and shoulders such as trapezius, splenius capitus, and accessory muscles of the shoulder that support the scapula may cause this feeling. If doing rehab for neck tightness all of this areas should be addressed as well as posture and sleeping habits. Read more

Can rsi in the upper back have prickly burning sensations.? Going through physio to strengthen upper back but keep getting relapses.

Specialist will help: Rsi (repetitive stress/strain injury) is usually of the extremity, I've not seen it in the back, however a variety of strain patterns of the back can produce prickly burning sensation. See a musculoskeletal specialist, usually a doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) that specializes in omm (osteopathic manual medicine) or nmm (neuromuscular medicine) with a sports medicine background. MRI: It sounds like it is probably a variant of a "sciatica" which is an irritation of a nerve in the back causing symptoms down the leg (although there are other possibilities as well). It is not so much you initially need to see a spine specialist, but rather probably need an MRI to establish the diagnosis, which could potentially be ordered through your primary care doctor.
