My doctor prescribed 40mg Nexium twice a day. Is that safe? I have not had luck with prevacid or dexilant (dexlansoprazole).
Nexium (esomeprazole) safety.: Nexium is of the same class of drugs as are Prevacid and dexilant (dexlansoprazole). If you are not getting relief from those, you may have the same experience with nexium. I have been prescribed a 7 day treatment of prevacid, (lansoprazole) amoxic.& clarth. for H pylori but can't withstand the side effects. Any alternative treatment ?

Can 1mos use of Prevacid (lansoprazole) cause iron/b12 deficiency? Or is it more likely caused by atrophic gastritis for which PPI was prescribed?
Atrophic gastritis: Prevacid (lansoprazole) can cause b12 deficiency or pernicious anemia, but it's limited moreso to the elderly. Atrophic gastritis has a clearer association and can be a cause of pernicious anemia from low b12. Iron level measurements are often changed with anemia, but neither Prevacid (lansoprazole), nor atrophic gastritis seem to cause iron deficiency directly. ...Read more
