Normal: You will feel a variety of sensations there most likely for 6-8 weeks, during the proliferative phase of wound healing. It is normal, and usually doesn't limit activity due to pain after 2-6 weeks on average. As long as the wound looks good, your fine. You can always have it checked out by your surgeon to be sure. Just a "thought": You may be having referred pain from your back (a pinched nerve L4-L5 verterbra. Try putting some heat on your low back and takig Ibuprofen for several days (800 mgm every 8 hours)

Nerve pain: Consult with an orthopedic expert. Ok to use advil or aleve (naproxen) if not allergic. I prefer biofreeze topically for pain. This sounds like nerve pain (compression neuritis). You may need an mri.
