Possibly lymph node: With a little time ; effort most people can be taught to feel the small, non-tender pea sized lymph nodes in your neck. In that location they are often next to firm muscle ; not buried in soft tissues like they are in most of the body. If they become tender ; grow larger, they are reacting to something ; may need to be evaluated. Most benign nodes swell ; shrink over a 3wk cycle. ...Read more

I'm 31, male, I've had frequent pain in my temples for months, usually when I lie down on my side or move my neck a certain way. Why is that?

Not sure why: "positional" aggravation of your pain but you should see your PCP (Primary Care Provider) for possible testing to rule out TEMPORAL ARTERITIS a potentially serious condition.... Generally a simple test called a SEDIMENTATION RATE may rule this diagnosis out!

Hope this helps!

Intermittent head numbness for the past week lasting 2 minutes. Now it is occuring down my left cheek and on the temple of my head any causes?

Some thoughts...: This may simply be myofascial pain (tenderness in muscles of unknown cause), but a more important condition should be ruled out: Giant Cell Arteritis. This is an auto-immune inflammatory condition affecting blood vessels (most commonly, branches of the external carotid artery). If not treated, it can lead to loss of vision. The workup includes a focused exam and history, labs, and possibly biopsy. ...Read more

I have a pain in my left temple when I press in it. I don't get headaches and this pain just came randomly. I only feel it when pressed. Any ideas?

Problem safe: Left temple pain can come from many causes, the more common including grinding teeth at night (TMJ like syndrome). If you have any vision changes you need to seek medical attention immediately to get testing for Temporal arteritis, if the pain is over the artery this does increase the risk and my concern. You are young so the later is much less likely. Try taking some ibuprofen and get a TMJ eval. ...Read more

Snce 12 headaches 1 side of the head esp left from temples&up. Now I'm 20&i hv to lay down often(horrible fatigue) get up w headaches1side(neck stiff)?

Time to image: What have you tried for pain relief? Caffeine, NSAIDS, triptans? Any connection to period? Vision checked? If you can, ask doc to get brain MRI+/-contrast just to be on the safe side, to rule out structural issues. The neck stiffness makes me think tension-type, but that could be a secondary evolution of an earlier type. Start headache diary now & include cycle, foods, sleep - give doc head-start ...Read more

Check it out: Nothing comes to mind with this history, particularly at your age, but there are unusual things like temporal arteritis etc..and the positional issues are not typical of migraines. My conclusion, see your doctor and let them do a brief exam/history..current meds etc. and perhaps even draw some blood and f/u as needed. ...Read more
