See below: The pain is due to small blood clot (thrombosis) in the hemorrhoid. The pain may last for 4-7 days and gradually the clot disappears. Immediate relief for the pain can be had by the physician making a small incision(using local anesthetic) in the hemorrhoid releasing the clot.
