Are premature ventricular contraction or ectopic heartbeats dangerous to me?

Are premature ventricular contraction or ectopic heartbeats dangerous to me?

PVCs and MI: Premature ventricular contractions mean that there is irritability in the heart muscle and normal heart rhythm which starts from high up in the atria is inturrupted in some beats and those beats are originating in the ventricle.Bot it does not mean that it is directly due to mi.But you can get pvcs with mi.Occasional pvcs are not serious but if it comes from many foci and in runs it can be seriou. ...Read more

Is it safe to fly with ventricular ectopic?

Is it safe to fly with ventricular ectopic?

Flying: Flying doesn't pose a problem as long as one is asymptomatic. As long as no structural disease is present, defined by a normal echo and a normal stress test, there shouldn't be problem. But this should be confirmed by your Cardiologist/Internist/Family Medicine physician. Avoid tobacco, caffeine, and other products that may increase episodes. But again confirm this with your doctor. ...Read more

Moms holter test shows ventricular ectopic beats.In 89307 beats total aw 133,isolated 112,pairs 4,abberant 0,runs 3&run beats 13.rhythym is sinus.help?

Not enough info: What distinguishes the significance of a rhythm disturbance is what the condition of the heart is, not the rhythm per se. Your mother needs an evaluation which includes information about how strong her heart is and whether she has evidence of blocked arteries. Other considerations are what meds she takes, her use of nicotine, alcohol and caffeine, and what symptoms, if any, she has. Warm wishes. ...Read more

I had one pair of ventricular ectopic beats on my holter monitor. Their were also 37 isolated. Is this normal? Echo & stress test were fine.

Probably 'begnin': The electrical system of the heart sends regular pulses to the heart muscle to signal it to contract. Many things can disturb this natural rhythm eg electrolyte abnormalities (low potassium or magnesium), excessive stimulants eg caffeine, alcohol, nasal decongestants, certain asociated conditions such as mvp (mitral valve prolapse), anxiety, hormonal fluctuations, etc. ...Read more

14 day loop results states tachycardia up to 140, bradycardia 42 bpm, ventricular ectopic complexes, supra ventricular ectopic complexes and an atrial couplet. Should I be worried?

14 day loop results states tachycardia up to 140, bradycardia 42 bpm, ventricular ectopic complexes, supra ventricular ectopic complexes and an atrial couplet. Should I be worried?

Arrhythmias: You should be talking to your doctor about the situation to get more information. The rhythms alone don't necessarily imply something 'bad'. On the other hand if you were entirely normal they wouldn't be there. The rest of your condition is what tells you whether you should be worried. Your doctor is best positioned to answer that question. ...Read more

Suffering with pvc ectopic beats for years with runs of 5-6 pvc. My ECHO and ECG however was 100% normal. Likley I go into Ventricular Tachycardia??

Take seriously: i recommend a consultation with a cardiac electro physiologist. Recent studies have correlated the amount of PVCs a person has over a 24 hour period with the development of a weakening of the heart muscle (CHF). Therefore, a thorough evaluation and frequent follow up needs to be undertaken with consideration for medications that suppress PVCs while also being useful for preventing weak hearts. ...Read more

Ectopic: As I understand you you had a positive pregnancy test on August 13 then had an ultrasound on September 2 which showed no intrauterine sac. The usuall follow up would be a repeat quantitative HCG in 3 days then an ultrasound then or within a week. No more than two weeks. ...Read more

I'm a bit worried about my period this time round as I had an ectopic 3 months ago and my previous periods were 32 days apart but this is a week early?

Early period: A 25 day interval for a menstrual cycle can occur normally with ovulation around Day 11. If you are concerned about the possibility of another ectopic pregnancy, you can always have a serum quantitative hCG done.(blood test) You can also track and chart your cycle intervals over the next 3 months and see if this is a pattern. Previous ectopic pregnancy patients have 10% chance of recurrence. ...Read more
