4 month old baby born at 35w+3days. Should baby's born this early (5weeks) wait longer until they are introduced to solids?

Baby diet: Basically, in these days we do not recommend early introduction of solid food not even to full term infants because of food allergies. If the baby is growing well you may introduce the solid food around 6 mo of age unless otherwise advised by his pediatrician. ...Read more

My babies delieved at 30 week they are now 6 months when i can give them food ( triplet )?

Sitting yet ?: The timing of first solid feeds has more to do with their loss of the tongue thrust and ability to sit than their age. When they can sit propped, they can participate more in the process rather than be shovel fed. ...Read more

Can babies teath at 3 months old?

Can babies teath at 3 months old?

It's possible!: There is a wide variation of time before the 1st tooth presents. There are babies born with teeth. Also, in my practice, I have several 1- year olds with no teeth. The standard average time of the first tooth eruption is 6 months;however, many infants drool before then--not because of teeth but because of developing salivary glands. "teething" or fussiness can be from ear infections--so be wary. ...Read more

My triplet now 9 months they can't set down alone is it normal (they delivered at 30 weeks ) ?

My triplet now 9 months they can't set down alone is it normal (they delivered at 30 weeks ) ?

Maybe: All developmental milestones for the first yr to yr and a half should be adjusted for babies prematurity. Your average term born will prop sit for several seconds at 6 months and get to sitting and be stable by 9. Since your babies came more than 2 months early i would not expect them to be stable in sitting yet. ...Read more

Had 4 units of prbcs post delivery, breastfed, checked baby at 6 mo at creepy aids clinic. Should I have done that?

Probably not: Transmission of HIV through blood transfusions is extremely rare in the USA. Rather than checking the baby you could have yourself checked. The baby will not get HIV disease unless transmitted through you. Your having it is also unlikely, assuming this was your only risk factor. ...Read more

A good chance: Its not possible to predict the future in your specific case; however, a cerclage has been shown to reduce pre-term birth in women with a short cervix. Progesterone supplementation is another intervention that can also help. Best wishes! ...Read more

Can babies teeth at 17 weeks?

Can babies teeth at 17 weeks?

Yes, babies can be: born with teeth, and some infants do cut their first teeth by 3-4 months, although 6-9 months is more common. At 16 w, infants start bringing things to their mouths and like to mouth things as part of their normal development, and it is not necessarily a sign of teething. Before the lower incisors erupt, the surface of the lower jaw will flatten and if it is still narrow, teething is not imminent ...Read more

My premature baby, born at 32 weeks and now 4 weeks old, has just come home from the nicu. We notice she stops breathing while burping.

My premature baby, born at 32 weeks and now 4 weeks old, has just come home from the nicu. We notice she stops breathing while burping.

Mgt/workup: Premature infants are developing their pattern of breathing, and it is not uncommon to have short pauses. If there is a pause longer than 15 seconds or any distress/color change, an apnea test can be useful in determining the cause. If there is a pattern during sleep, observe your daughter for pauses, and discuss with your PCP. Note any upper airway noise or movement of her arms/legs. ...Read more

My friend used meth 1 time at 18 weeks pregnant, very small amount, will it show in babies meconium at birth, if she delivers at full term. in 22 week?

Meconium starts : forming between 12-16 weeks. The Chicago-based lab we used when I worked for the NV State Health Division claimed that their assay could detect illicit drugs in meconium used 6 months prior to delivery. A temporary decrease in oxygen from a "hit" of meth may cause permanent damage in some areas of the fetal brain. Encourage her to 'fess up, for her baby's sake & to get addiction counseling. ...Read more
