I took the depo shot once march 26/2017... i started bleeding in april and still is now. I was prescribed premarin tablets 1.25 mg twice a day. The bleeding started right back as soon as i took the last pill?

Bleeding on OCP's: Painful sex can arise from infection, but bleeding on oral bcp's is usually from not having taken the pill punctually. The bleeding comes from irregular estrogen levels, and is because the lining of the womb breaks down as a result. Premarin (conjugated estrogens) will not stop the bleeding, only accentuate it. Doubtful: But if depends on the dose as there are 6 different doses. You may get other side effects from taking too much at once. It would be hard to imagine anyone taking 14 pills at once as it is one pill per day whichever dose you are taking, but if you did take 2 weeks at once you should see your doctor or call your doctor asap. ...Read more

Weight gain etc: Most of my patients on Premarin (conjugated estrogens) do quite well as the benefits of taking it far out weigh the risks. Weight gain, bloating, breast , uterus cancer, blood clot , ht attack, stoke. These are all very uncommon in a healthy person taking this medication. If you have a uterus you will need to take Progesterone also but if you don't then u can just take estrogen which is safer. ...Read more
