What is the percentage of women who end up being pregnant even with a negative blood test ? And is it possible to get pregnant with an ovarian cyst ?

Time & technique : Blood tests for pregnancy are highly accurate. However, if the test is too early, the test may be negative and women may become "pregnant" after the test. It is advisable to do the test after a missed period. It is quite possible to become pregnant with an ovarian cyst. ...Read more

After an ovarian pregnancy ruptures is a blood test the only thing that can differentiate it from an ovarian cyst?

Not necessarily: Blood test for HCG would help in establishing pregnancy and if there is no gestational sac in the uterus, it would suggest an ectopic pregnancy. Ultrasound examination, blood tests, and examination of the tissue by a pathologist may all be needed to confirrm a diagnosis. ...Read more

Can ovarian cyst cause a false pregnancy test on home test and in blood test in hospital? im really hoping im pregnant .

No: Or at least really unlikely. The only cyst that could give false positive test is one that produces hCG, and only rare ovarian tumors do that. No ovarian cyst will give a false negative if you are pregnant. Good wishes. ...Read more

Doctor did Inhibin A Non maternal blood test, came back 4.3 pg/mL. I am not pregnant but have ovarian cysts that need surgery. Is the result normal?

Inhibin A test: This is a blood test that can be used as a marker for granulosal cell and mucinous ovarian cancers. We do not typically run that test on common ovarian cysts. Your Inhibin A test is in the normal range. Individual test results must be interpreted by the doctor who ordered it who will know why the test was done and how to interpret it in individual circumstances. ...Read more

I've taken 8 pt total and all positive. I went to the dr for a blood test a week ago and came up negative. Could it be that I have an ovarian cyst?

May be: Ovarian cysts are quite common and most are benign. You do not state your concern; do you have any symptoms? Did you discuss your concern, if you have any, with your doctor? What prompted you to do 8 pregnancy tests? There may be issues that need a good conversation with your doctor to flush out. ...Read more

I went to the e.r they say I hve ovarian cyst & I have negative blood test negative urine test but today i felt movement in my stomach like a baby ?

Follow up visit: Fetal movement can be felt around 20 weeks gestation. If you had a sonogram that located an ovarian cyst it is hard to imagine how they could have missed a 20 week fetus. Your pregnancy test was negative too. ...Read more

When your gyn checks you for an ovarian cyst and then asks you to take a blood test for ca-125. Is that a bad sign?

When your gyn checks you for an ovarian cyst and then asks you to take a blood test for ca-125. Is that a bad sign?

CA 125 - Why check?: Cancer antigen 125 (ca-125) is not a screening test for ovarian cancer. It is an adjunctive test for measuring tumor response (ie, a tumor marker) for pts w/ known ovarian cancer. It isn't perfect even when we know someone has ovarian cancer. In the appropriate clinical setting -- eg an abnormal ovary on imaging it might help determine if a mass is benign or malignant, but again is not perfect. ...Read more

I may have an abnormal he 4 blood test. Do I have ovarian cancer. I have an ovarian cyst 3.4 CM which is being monitored with transvaginal ultrasounds?

I may have an abnormal he 4 blood test. Do I have ovarian cancer. I have an ovarian cyst 3.4 CM which is being monitored with transvaginal ultrasounds?

An abnormal HE-4: Is not good but what is the ca-125 or did they do an ova-1? And if you are not , you should be referred to a gyn oncologist for evaluation and is not hard to remove that ovary through the davinci or laparoscope if necessary, as at your age the ovary is worthless and hopefully it will be benign. ...Read more

I have a 2.8cm ovarian cyst. I have the brca1 mutated gene. My ca125 blood test came back normal. Could it still be early stage of ovarian cancer?

Rare: Ovarian cysts are of concern when over 5 cm. If the small cyst is not complex it is usually followed by ultrasound. Ca 125 has no diagnostic implication but is only of value for monitoring. Brca1 suggests the cyts should be followed. ...Read more

Ovarian cyst during pregnancy causing lots of bleeding and some blood clots. How is this treated?

Ovarian cyst during pregnancy causing lots of bleeding and some blood clots. How is this treated?

Not a cyst cause: In general, an ovarian cyst does not cause vaginal bleeding during pregnancy. The usual causes would be an issue with the placenta, a growth on the cervix, premature labor, for instance. You need to clarify with your doctor what the cause of the bleeding is to know how to treat. However avoid intercourse, heavy lifting or exercise for now would be reasonable. ...Read more
