When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. Depends: If you get pregnant and their is an iud in place, if the iud strings can be seen, then the current recommendation is that it be removed. It is associated with a small increased risk of miscarriage, but this is not as risky as leaving it in place. ...Read more
Should women who have never been pregnant consider mirena (levonorgestrel)? Is there a risk with placement?
It is definitely more difficult to insert the iud on a women who has never had a vaginal delivery. However it can still be done. Many doctors opt to do it when the patient is on her period. The reason being is that the cervix is open during this time and it is much easier to insert.
Another reason why doctors recommend against it on someone who has not had kids, is due to the fact that it is long term (mirena (levonorgestrel) lasts for 5 years), and often times women decide to have kids sooner and opt to take it out, which is not very cost effective from an economic standpoint.
General risks of iud regardless of parity is bleeding, infection, trauma. Your doctor will be able to go over all your options, the procedure including risks and complications.
Best of luck. ...Read more
Obgyn Evaluation: The first step is to see an Obgyn. They need to verify the pregnancy. They urgently need to confirm an intrauterine pregnancy and rule out an ectopic pregnancy. If an intrauterine pregnancy is confirmed then the IUD should be removed. The miscarriage risk is much higher if it stays in. Ruling out an ectopic pregnancy VERY important ...Read more

Yes: The Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD is over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. To put it another way, the risk of pregnancy is about 1 in 1000. Pregnancy isn't common but it does happen in rare instances. If you do get pregnant while the Mirena (levonorgestrel) is in place, you have a high chance of having an ectopic pregnancy. Best wishes! ...Read more

No: Typically no. There is an increased risk in the first trimester of miscarriage if it stays in so it is generally recommended to remove an IUD if pregnancy occurs. Very rare: Mirena (levonorgestrel) iuds are very effective with very low failure rates. You could simply take a home pregnancy test and in minutes you will have your answer. This is what your doctor would do. If positive it's important to be seen immediately due to the risk of tubal pregnancy. ...Read more
Could you tell me what happens if you get pregnant while using mirena (levonorgestrel) (iud birth control)?
Would I know if I was pregnant with a Mirena IUD? Would it be painful? My IUD is still in place but I have been feeling strange (sore nips, bloated)
Okay so I was just told that immefiately I can get pregnant after extracting mirena (levonorgestrel) its been a full week anx now im having heavy bleeding am I prego?
Doubtful: It is correct that your fertiltiy should return soon after the Mirena (levonorgestrel) is removed, but not in the first week. It is unlkely that you would have conceived in the first week after removal of the Mirena (levonorgestrel), and even less likely that you would have conceived if you are bleeding heavily. ...Read more

Can u get pregnant right after mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD removal? I got it removed 4 days ago and now I am bleeding could it b my period coming that soon or?
Unlikely, but.....: You can get pregnant immediately after removal of an iud, depending where you are in your cycle. That being said, if you are only 4 days post removal, it is too early to check a pregnancy test. Additionally, your periods may be irregular just after removing the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud. I recommend you wait a week, then check a urine pregnancy test. Best of luck! ...Read more

I'm curious if I am pregnant or not. My mirena (levonorgestrel) fell out November 27th. I have been getting really sick when I try to eat the past week.
Pregnancy test: With the minera IUD it is difficult to gauge, when you may have had a menstrual period and relative to that when you may have ovulated. You may want to do a home pregnancy test, and if that test is negative, do another test in a week, because it takes about a week after conception for the preg test to become positive. Avoid or have protected intercourse during that week. ...Read more
